Here is an example of a post that needs 5 stars.

Thank you kindly - I was dreading the update today and figured it would be around 10% as some of my guys didn't budge at all. All of a sudden with some half decent planning you can get a lot of bang for your buck these days.

Thanks, isn't 6 balls even better than 5 stars? ;-)

You can, and all of your competitors can as well. Bye bye young players on high-level teams.

NEVER!! I pride myself on my rosters average age... only if you are a local are you allowed to rot in my squad! But I guess if market values are never destined to reach their old dizzy heights then its irrelevant.

Yeah, I noticed the salary dive. Just great, just when I thought the competition in my league might get around to dumping salary... And I still can't outbid them on the big stars. But if I can survive the season, maybe my slimmer payroll will get net me a big time player next season!

Thanks for doing the math for us. I was trying to come up with that coefficient myself except that I ran out of fingers when I was counting up the salaries.

Don't ask what sort of Chunks they are, you probably don't want to know. Blowing Chunks since Season 4!

According to a set of 33 player samples (ages 26-28, no training) I collected off the transfer list:

old: $ 1000 000 -> new: $ 870 849 decrease: -$ 129 151 / -12,92%
old: $ 750 000 -> new: $ 655 021 decrease: -$ 94 979 / -12,66%
old: $ 500 000 -> new: $ 438 456 decrease: -$ 61 544 / -12,31%
old: $ 250 000 -> new: $ 220 754 decrease: -$ 29 246 / -11,70%
old: $ 100 000 -> new: $ 89 115 decrease: -$ 10 885 / -10,88%
old: $ 50 000 -> new: $ 44 868 decrease: -$ 5 132 / -10,26%
old: $ 25 000 -> new: $ 22 590 decrease: -$ 2 410 / -9,64%
old: $ 10 000 -> new: $ 9 119 decrease: -$ 881 / -8,81%
old: $ 5 000 -> new: $ 4 591 decrease: -$ 409 / -8,17%
old: $ 2 500 -> new: $ 2 312 decrease: -$ 188 / -7,53%
old: $ 1 000 -> new: $ 933 decrease: -$ 67 / -6,68%

..so the decrease at the top end is around 12% whereas the decrease at the bottom end is around 7%.

The salary inflation coefficient for season 14 is 0.99197, finally reaching new all-time lows. So to compare last season's salaries to this season as in the table above one needs to combine the two coefficients from the two last seasons (Note that I revise the season 13 estimate from 1.001905 to 1.002, based on today's data.)
salary_season14 = salary_season13 ^ (0.99197 / 1.002) = salary_formula ^ 0.99197
salary_season13 = salary_formula ^ 1.002
salary_season12 = salary_formula ^ 1.006714
salary_season11 = salary_formula ^ 0.999221

0.99197 is the coefficient that should be used to update the various user-made salary calculators, for example users of the coachParrot tool (version 1.1 upwards) should put this value into cell V4 on sheet Coeff.
