(10080211)An injury like this is devastating for Duffill as his entire career right now is at a crossroads. He's always been a one-club man with Da Fat Boy Slim never wanting to trade its centerpiece, but with the manager going inactive, he will be transferred, and soon. But who will buy him at 1 million dollars?
The answer to that may have been "several managers will want him, don't be surprised to see a bidding war"... until tonight. Duffill was off his game after playing too much last week and was only 5-15 from the field, but it was no reason for any potential buyer to be worried. But with 7:33 left in the 3rd quarter, Duffill received an inside pass and looked to put away a routine layup, and Pitama Tau got back and fouled him hard. The foul caused Duffill to land awkwardly, and he clutched his knee in pain. Potential buyers feared the worst, and had good reason to do so. The full details of the injury haven't been released, but doctors claim he's out for around 4 weeks. Additionally, his game shape will likely take at least 2 weeks to recover when he does return from the injury. This couldn't have come at a worse time either: unless i'm mistaken Duffill goes up for sale within the next week. The prospect of having to pay a player 176k a week to do nothing for 5-6 weeks will probably turn potential buyers off, or at least make them think twice about the million dollar pricetag.
Will Kye Duffill, like Donald Gatt last season, be forced into early retirement? Or will someone be able to justify the million dollars to get last seasons ABBL MVP?
