Panthers lose to Germany, 84-60

Team Pilipinas did what they could to prepare for Germany - it was just not enough.

The Panthers were clearly outmatched: being held to a paltry 37% from the field, were unable to convert a 3-pointer out of 20 attempts, and did not get to visit the foul line. "You cannot win games if you shoot poorly, and not even shoot a free throw. It just does not work that way," coach Morwood said during the post game conference.

Prudence Oton led the Panthers with 28 points, but had to do this in 35 shots - and missed all 11 attempts from beyond the arc. "We gave it our 110%, Germany was the better team," the star guard said.

The loss drops the Panthers to 1-1, with one game left in the Repechange phase of the Season 56 World Championships. Pilpinas has to beat Tunisia, and hope that Uruguay gets blown out badly by Germany, to have a shot in getting second place in Pool D.

1) I have no interest in this NT
2) I'm grateful for Oton playing. As promised, I'm keeping him in good GS.
3) Coach decides has nothing to do with tactical decisions. For example, expecting reverse patient to work, when having better DMI players in other positions.
4) You yourself asked me to help you out if I ever see a possibility to contribute. So here I am, questioning your decisions.

should be a clean sweep on the next upcoming games, good luck !!!

Someone once told me I needed to face fear to get over it, and I thought well why not take a step further and cut my fear into little pieces then set my fear on fire then throw the hot ash of my fear into a lake and then poison the lake. Simple!

Panthers destroy Algeria, 114-50

The Pilipinas Panthers limited Algeria to 16 points in the first half, as they made quick work of North African nation, 114 to 50.

Royce Cardino led seven Pilipinas players in double figures, finishing the game with a brilliant all around performance (16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 2 blocks, and no turnovers. "It (winning) felt good, and it did help us get a high point differential. I hope we get to win our remaining games by a large margin, so we can get a good ranking in the Consolation Tournament," the 31 year old center said.

Interestingly enough, Kidlat Celebria finished the game with no points, in 22 minutes of action. "At least I am not Tony Snell," remarked the guard.

The Panthers are expected to trounce the Irish in the next game.

Luck of the Irish run out: Panthers defeat Ireland, 108-40

Not even Saint Patrick can help Ireland against the might of the Pilipinas Panthers.

Paul Emery led the charge with 18 points for team Philippines, as five other players finished with double digit scoring. "We knew it was going to be a long time for the Irish, when they scored only 4 points by the end of the first quarter," said Emery. Coach Morwood, on the other hand, wants to make sure everyone is focused. "We need to win our remaining games and have a good point differential, so we have a chance in getting in the top 16 teams (before the knockout stage starts), the naturalized coach said.

The Panthers face Nigeria in their next game.

NT Press Release-
Panthers lose against Canada, 68-83

Poor shooting proved to be too much for the Pilipinas Panthers, losing against Canada, 83-68, at the Staples Center, in downtown Canada.

The Panthers finished the game with a poor 32% from the field, including an atrocious 13% (2/16) from behind the arc. "This was not the outcome we expected," Coach Morwood simply said after the game.

James Mabaquiao proved to be Panthers' lone star in the game, finishing with 13 points on 6/7 shooting. The same cannot be said, however, for the rest of the roster. The Pilipinas starting five finished with a poor 27% clip (19/71).

The loss is key in the Panthers' chances in advancing to the final 32. "We cannot afford to lose another game. We need to win our last two assignments, and win big (vs Saudi Arabia and Sweden)," Morwood said via text message, when asked to comment on their chances in making it to the next round.
