A remarkably EBBL-friendly draw for the tournament QFs.
Obviously Wasps and Erks got the short straw.

Apparently there's something of a big game tonight somewhere. (I suspect Highbury). Its my first Cup Final since 36, and zander's first since 31. Surprisingly A Dogs have never won the Cup, losing in Finals to Vecx and elmacca. The Wasps have also lost a final before, to Los Mikitos, when I attempted to win using a full court press, which of course everyone knows never works.

I get the feeling zander really wants the Cup this season. He's given up home advantage in the playoffs in order to get here which says to me he'd rather win the Cup than the league. Understandable really having won the league last season, though personally I'd have gone the other way as I did in 37, when I gave up in the Cup.

Do I want it also? Of course. I've given up training over the last three weeks in order to give myself as good a chance as I could. I've also discovered that you can these days keep players at 10 stamina, which you never could before. I think my chances are very slim though. Obviously I'm a huge underdog. I expect either a narrow win or a massive defeat. But I'm going to do what I can. There's always hope.

Good luck to zander. Surprisingly tonight is our first meeting in the Cup. Hope its a good one. Though I'm reminded of Bill Beaumont when he was England captain in the 70s, before a game against Wales. A posh bloke saw Beaumont on the way in to Twickenham and said to him "I hope the best team wins." And Beaumont replied "I bloody don't."

Well I’ve only had the pleasure of reading such a great preview post match and you got my intentions for the Cup spot on. Having always eluded me the Cup was one I wanted badly this season.
I’m probably a bit of a thorn in your side at the moment after some big battles over the seasons, but I feel like you’ve been harshly done by tonight defending the paint and it not coming off, I was very surprised not to see a 3-2 zone and the box not being very effective. Not that I’m complaining!

You’ll be pleased to hear I’ll be having a bit of a reshuffle from now until the beginning of next season so the play-offs should be interesting!!

Good luck for the rest of the season

zander

Always. But definitely the last two seasons. Seems to be payback for beating you on your own patch in the playoffs the season before.

I was very surprised not to see a 3-2 zone and the box not being very effective.

I've used the box before and it worked a lot better. I expected more blocking especially if you went inside. 3-2 might have been better but probably not much.

You’ll be pleased to hear I’ll be having a bit of a reshuffle from now until the beginning of next season so the play-offs should be interesting!!

I've similar plans so its going to be really interesting.

I'm sure this is significant only to me but I'll post anyway. One more drop and Jason Fallon will have the same tsp as he did when I drafted him. 50. Its taken 10 seasons to drop that far and though I can't remember exactly when I stopped training him now, it was probably about the same length of time to train him. I don't remember his skills from then (my notes are on a dead computer) but I do remember his OD ID and PA were all 3. They're remarkably close to that now. Of course, I'd never train someone with those starting skills again but he turned out ok.

Heck of a finish between Bournmouth & Snaiperiai! I think the Drunkers finish higher on points scored & get a relegation playoff.
