U21 season 45 has started!
A warm welcome to all new and returning u21 managers for what should be a fun filled season. I want to urge all managers to communicate with me via bbmail regularly, or on the offsite forum. If we have not discussed training plans with selected players, the sooner the better. As a team we need to improve in key areas to be competitive.

Last night we faced up to Chile (49534) in a tough match to try and sneak into the World Cup. The odds were against us with the salary matchups in all positions, something we will need to get used to this season. The team performed admirably, losing by 12.

MVPS
3- Hawkins- 25pts, 5 assists, 5 3pters and 4 boards.
2- Ryles- 21pts, 7 boards, 3 assists
1- Cullis- 11pts, 11 boards, 4 blocks.

Our 2nd world cup qualifying game was vs Israel. (49537)
Another big effort to get so close to a high salary team. The 11pt difference probably was closer than i expected.

MVPs
3- Bill. Good pts, rebs and assists
2- Rao. Low % but 6 assists and 20pts
1- Cullis. 6-9FG and 9 boards.

Our last match is vs Tounes before we get into the tournament for home court.Taiwan has qualified for the WC which helps us!

Our 3rd game was vs Tounes. The game meant little as we were already destined for the Consolation Tournament where we seek home court for next season. We held on to a nice victory 98-77. (49539)

MVPs
3 votes- Rao- 18, 9 assists, 5 steals, 3 boards.
2 votes- Bill- 15 points, 6 assists, 5 boards, 3 steals, 0 turnovers.
1 vote- Cullis- 16 boards, 14 points, 3 blocks.

Our schedule is up, with a couple of tougher games to start off. Should be a fun season with some tight games.

2 games to update, last week we defeated Norway 110-86
(50026)

MVPs
3 votes- Rao- 18pts, 10 assists, 4 boards
2- Bill- 16 pts, 13 boards, 4 assists
1- Cullis- 16pts, 12 boards, 4 blocks

Then last night we suffered a defeat against Netherlands 105-91
(50072)

Despite a correct GDP we could not keep them off the offensive glass. I think had we controlled this, the game was ours.

MVPS
3 votes- Bancevic- 33pts, 6 boards, 3 assists, 3 3pters.
2 votes- Rao- 19pts, 4 boards, 3 assists
1 vote- Bill- 11pts, 9 boards, 5 assists

I think we can still have in ampact in this game by winning our remaining games and making the top 32. It will be tough from here and we will face some difficult teams if we do make it. We need to get our GS back on track with all our players.
BBmail me any skill updates too guys, or add to the offsite for us to track. Im looking to add a big or two.

Nice win vs Montenegro tonight.
(50100)

An injury to Mat..... early in the 2nd quarter probably interrupted the good passing advantage we had to blow it right out.

Our FTs and 3pt % could also have been better.

MVPs
3- Bill. 17 boards, 14 pts, 5 assists, 3 steals. Big game.
2- Rao. 23pts, 4 boards, 4 assists.
1- Bancevic. 15pts, 4 boards, 4 assists.

A nice win again last night as we took down Luxembourg.
(50193)

Some great outside shooting stats tonight as the game was played by both teams from the 3pt line. Foul counts wer kept down, wish i could say the same for TOs.

Missing:

Malcolm Cullis
Last seen at tipoff in Luxembourg. Anyone who has seen the Whereabouts of this man please contact the Australian u21 basketball team. He is wanted for rebounding purposes.

MVPs
3- Hawkins
2- Ryles
1- Matuszkiewicz.

Last game for the fixture before finals is next week vs Saudi Arabia. Looks like we are playing for a spot in the final 32.

Game shape over the next few weeks will determine how far we can last. Good job team!

We now turn to planning of Season 46, so you will see 20 and 19yr olds selected for scrimmages. Please be aware that no team selection is confirmed until season 46 begins, which will be confirmed with a team announcement. Just because a player is shown on the u21 team in the following weeks, this does not mean they are going to be in the side. I may have players in the team simply because they were the last players I have scouted, or they may be there because I am monitoring their pops very closely to see if they are developing in a beneficial way for the future.

If you are wanting to know about possible rankings or likelihood of player selection, the offsite forum has a discussion thread. Otherwise, bbmail me for further indication.

We have a scrimmage this week vs Romania u20.
I will be putting up player skills over the weekend on the offsite and choose an u20 team in shape to play. If your u20 player has not been looked at yet, feel free to bbmail me their skills. Im using a program to identify highest skills/DMI players eligable for next years team. 19yr old bigs are a priority.
