Yesterday we started our European Championship campaign against Andorra. The first game is never easy and as I expected, Andorra offered fierce stand...

We got off to a slow start. The guards of Andorra were very excited and didn't miss their start at all! With an 8-2 run they quickly put us at a disadvantage. Alaers decided to start his campaign with a 3-ball, which also encouraged us to continue and catch up with Andorra to a deserved 19-25 score after Q1.
In Q2 our boys really got going. The vision of our backcourt put our front court in an excellent position, allowing us to go to rest with a large margin. 38-61 HT.

The 2nd half started like the 1st one ended. We immediately grabbed Andorra by the throat so they had to give in completely after this Q. 55-91 with 10 minutes to go.
Andorra started Q4 with a contested 3 pointer from the corner. They played again the way they started the match and the game went well up and down. In the end, Néo finished with a successful free throw so that the deserved first victory was a fact. Q4 26-28 with a final score of 81-119.

Next Monday we'll face Sweden. They lost their first match against Ukraine, so they want to set something straight. It promises to be an interesting pot.

Congrats on your very first win as an NT coach!
As long as WE'll keep winning, I'll make sure to keep Néo is the best GS possible :)

I'm expecting an interesting game against Sweden, next week.
Good Luck!

Game 2: Belgium - Sweden: 100-79 (50924)

Our match against Sweden was going to be tougher than the one against Andorra. Their guards were in great shape, so I thought we could expect an outside targeted offense. This wasn't the case, Sweden chose for a more balanced offense.

Contrary to the first match, the team was stronger in the early stages.
We managed to end Q1 with a buzzerbeater 3-ball from Amadeo and a 10 point gap 30-20.
2nd and 3th Q were scandalous, Sweden took advantage of our missed shots and even came back to 2 points. They could only enjoy 10 seconds because Siebert decided to take an elbow shot under heavy pressure, which also went in. After this, we rewrapped ourselves and went into HT with an 8 point deficit 45-37. But we lost our first Q in this campaign with 2 points 15-17.
After HT we had the momentum to outrun them by 16 points, but with some intelligent plays they had a 10-0 run so our lead was melting like ice on a summer day. Luckily we were still running late so we could enter the last Q with a lead of 10 points 68-58.
Our lads were bringing it home in the 4th under the guidance of Alpha and Pablo in offense, together with our bigs who were ruling under the boards. Everyone shared in the joyful game we can expect from our boys. Amadeo flew to the ring to record the final score 100-79.

Our 3-2 zone put pressure on a lot of shots of Sweden's guards, which had an influence on their shooting %. Unfortunately they had a lot of assists to their big guys, who managed to get also a lot of boards during the first 3 Q's. Despite their better effort, they came up too short in the end and we start this campaign with a 2/2!

Our next opponent will be Norway. They had 2 logical losses against Israël and Ukraine. Normally we've got enough quality to get a 3/3 here.

Game 3: Norge - Belgium: 84 - 110 (50927)

As expected, another win: 3/3. The only "bad" news is that Ukraine won against Azerbeidzjan with a 51 point deficit so we're currently 4th in our group on point difference.

Next week we'll face Azerbeidzjan (the weakest team in our group) and then our journey can really begin.

Air ticket prices to Bosnia are quite low now, so take advantage of it and come to support our team en masse XD

Nice to see the trust in Van Rompaey as a starter. And he didn't dissapoint with his double-double.
Obviously its 'only ' Norway and thougher oppononents are waiting. It'll be interesting to see what this delegation can bring once proficient GSs are reached.

Teamwork makes the dream work!
Best of luck in the coming game(s)!
