England make it 5-0 following a 99-84 victory over Romania, moving within 1 game of qualification. Amarsari Singh had a strong first half scoring 13 of his 17 points. Francis Padilla then showed his dominance in the 2nd half as he went on to score 12 points in the half. Padilla finished with another solid stat line of 18 points, 13 rebounds and 3 blocks. Jonathan Hendriks had a quietly impressive all round performance with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists on 5-7 shooting. Despite these great performances , it was a surprising 19 points off the bench from Fod Pongracz that top scored. He was very shot happy with 17 shots in 21 mins, but it proved vital in the game.

England face a tough Belgium side next week, where a win would guarantee qualification with 1 game to spare.

2 tough games to go but very happy with how the season is going!

You're not doing too bad yourself, 4-1 so far. Hopefully you can finish the job and qualify as well!

Well… I messed up.

A game that I knew was going to be difficult and key in our quest for qualification. We didn’t have the best of game shapes, and Belgium got an almost perfect game shape update making things even tougher. Despite that, I felt we had the better team on paper and I believed we had enough enthusiasm advantage to be able to play with less effort and still win and give us a better chance at wins in the next round. And now it’s looking unlikely for us to even qualify… lesson learnt, just make sure we qualify. With Germany demolishing Andorra I put them as favourites to qualify as they face Georgia in their final game as we have to face Italy.

As for the Belgium game, Goodhew finally showed how good he could have been with a dominant 21 point, 15 rebound performance. Hendriks and Singh also had solid scoring outputs with 15 and 14 points respectively. Despite a getting 10 more offensive rebounds than Belgium, poor free throw shooting cost us.

Obviously hindsight is a wonderful thing, and looking back I should have used more effort but I can’t change that now and before the game I had full confidence in the team to get the win.

A tough ending to a promising season, we've come within a whisker of qualifying but unfortunately for us, it's not good enough. Overall I think you've had a good solid first season and there's definitely a platform to build upon, especially with how exciting next seasons crop of players look.

Just for info my MVP goes to Jonathan Hendricks, I think he's been solid all season. Notable mention to Padilla too, he was a close second.

It's a difficult ending to take after such a perfect start, and to get so close yesterday despite it looking so unlikely made it a little worse! I never expected to even get close to Italy so to be within a few points late in the game was a surprise to me.

Next season offers another promising group of players who I am excited to get to use. We seen some of the players already this season. I'm sure they can continue to develop and be key players for us. Hopefully, we can have a successful campaign next season.

Thanks you to both of you for your help this season.

If anyone has any MVP votes they want to say, feel free to put it out in the forum or BB mail me. I will total up the votes and announce the winner!

I went a bit quiet on this thread…

I didn’t really get many responses regarding the MVP for the season. So, I have decided that the MVP for the season is….Jonathan Hendriks!

The guard averaged 16 pts, 4 rebs and 4.3 ast for the competitive season, showing strong all round performances each game.

Shoutout to Francis Padilla who would have been a close second as he averaged 14.8 pts and 11.3 rebs.

A little update on how things are going. We have had 4 scrimmages using a team of u20s, going 3-1 in those games, 3 of which went to overtime. We have again another promising group of players currently in the squad, and I will be doing more scouting during the off-season. I am very happy with the current training of the players in the current squad and we have been seeing a lot of pops. I will be in touch over the off-season to discuss next season’s plans. One last thing, if you have a player in the squad can you make sure you do your best to have good game shape (8 or 9) for the players so we can be at our best for each game.
