We are under an hour away from tip off for the beginning of Season 53. This off-season seems more significant than those in recent memory with a new team assembled for the development of an app and a change in the thinking of the top teams that rule B3 with the draining effect of stamina.

I've become accustomed to starting these forums by congratulating Vycka on his league title and this seasons no different as he becomes the third English manager to win four consecutive EBBL titles. Commiserations to Vecx who put up a great fight despite battling against a huge salary difference and the lack of home advantage.

We welcome back old friends in Arsenal98, Hope Springs and CWA Fury who all bounced back immediately and a return for new jersey2 and Extremadabra who were last seen in Season 35 and Season 45 respectively.

The blue side looked stronger and stronger as the season went on last time out with Vecx and Optic Fibres battling it out for the top seed and both will look to go one better this time around and bridge that gap to BC Zalgiris. They have strong experienced challengers in LIDLtallfellas, Bethnal Green Erks and Galaxy Walkers and the three promoted teams will all fancy their chances of claiming a playoff spot.

The red side is headed by BC Zalgiris with Durham Wasps and Stinkilemons being his closest challengers. Does the emergence of Magdaleno Banuelos boost the chances of the latter with Phil Marichal still being at helm? It's hard to separate the remaining five teams and if the previous few seasons are anything to go by, it looks like it'll go to the wire again in deciding who claims a playoff spot and who gets relegated in the Great 8.

Can Vycka equal the record of five consecutive titles or can the man who holds the record, being Vecx, pip him to the post? The draining of stamina definitely brings all teams closer together and hopefully that'll be the end of the short rosters.

Good luck to all and let the games begin! Poll as per.

Someone who has been playing this game for such a long time should be able to tell the difference between a player he just bought and one he just drafted. What a ****!

Just in case anyone else was confused by my post, it was aimed at myself. Put my 18yo in to start at SG instead of my new signing. Bit of a salary difference. Its not even like their names are similar.

Extremadabra (91534) last year won my league, and i noticed their transfer history. Team plays from 27th season, and never has bought any player - so its has fully homegrown roster. Very impressive to reach EBBL, and i think its worth to mention this interesting fact.

Hi mate, I did but it was pretty incidental (I lost 6/8 games against the other conference) and my team was not the best in the league, even though I played my cards right in the end.

Such is the case this season, where I'm not close to paying the Salary floor even and just can't compete against monster salaries at a reasonable price, which by the way seems to be somehow addressed with the Stamina effect (supposedly, no more 5-player roster with ~200k salaries as a meta). Which I find positive even though I won't help me - The one feature that would give me a hand is that homegrown players had a multiplier because of defending their mother team.

I'll very likely be relegating, having a combination of very old and very young lads at the moment. I'll pick my games and hope for more luck than the starting games, that's certain.

I delve into a teams history a little when writing the post each season, but I totally missed this. That’s a mightily impressive feat!

47 fouls, 4 players fouling out, 2 on each side. And meanwhile some basketball too.

Appropriate on a foul filled night that Wasps PF/C Nikolaos Sotiropoulos should break what I thought was an unbreakable record; Jason Fallon's career total of 1232 fouls. Niko needed 3 tonight to equal the record and decided to make sure by having what for him was a typical early night fouling out after 27 minutes of only really being noticed when he was fouling. His average for the Wasps is 3.2 fouls a game, even higher than the 2.9 managed by Heinrich Jagermeister, the orginal foul machine.
