Welcome to Season 56 of the EBBL! I’ll do exactly what I did last season and start by congratulating Vecx on retaining his crown and make it title number 14 and commiserating Hope Springs after losing back to back finals.

I’d also like to welcome three EBBL debutants in Kotwa, Team Nook and St Purple & Greens. As teams have found out in recent seasons, it’s tough to stay here in your first season but good luck to you all. We also welcome the return of Roaring Lions and MexicanTaxiDriver who have both had previous experiences of this level.

The blue side again looks tough to crack as Tide of Fire, LIDLtallfellas, Arsenal 98 and Optic Fibres all remain strong. All four teams have occupied the playoff spots for the past three seasons so it’s the job of the remaining Big 8 teams to break this trend. Three of the promoted teams find themselves in this side of the conference and Roaring Lions and Cambois Donkey look the best equipped to push the four at the top whilst Kotwa and MexicanTaxiDriver will both be looking to finish as high as they can.

Again, the red side looks really hard to predict as all teams pose a threat in their own individual way. BC Zalgiris will start off as favourites for the title after accumulating a weekly wage bill in excess of 1M and informing us of his intentions to battle it out for the B3 title. Hope Springs improves season upon season and has all the tools to go one better this season, whilst Leeds City Ballers have invested in England starter, Magdaleno Banuelos, to bolster his attack. London Whales will look to improve on their semi final appearance last time out whilst Durham Wasps and Stinkilemons’ expectations are unknown after both teams sold players. Team Nook and St. Purples & Greens have both recruited so could through up a surprise by competing for a playoff spot.

Good luck to all sides this season! Poll as per.

Thank you for the introduction!

I very excited to be here and I am very much looking forward to competing with the best! My goal for this season is to survive, and as mentioned that won't be easy.

I think both conferences will be difficult battles. Both sides have strong teams and every game will be a tough one.

Interestingly, the red side currently has the 3 highest salary teams, and 4 of the top 6. It'll be interesting to see if the red side can pick up a EBBL title for the first time since season 52 (which was BC Zalgiris).

By the way, has anyone heard anything from Elmacca? He hasn't logged in since 21st December?

Good luck to everyone

That's a long time for elmacca not to log in. Hope nothings amiss. The EBBL wouldn't be the same without its longest tenured team.

Damn @ the Elmacca news, that's not good. If he's also ElMacca on twitter then he tweeted on 12th Jan...maybe just done with BB? Would still be a shame of course, but less of the worrying if anything bad happened to the person which I find is natural if they disappear without announcing it.

Considering I've got the highest salary on the blue side my aim has to be to actually win the EBBL this time. Less focus on training/the cup if necessary.

Welcome to everyone new!

Hopefully he’ll return at some point, would be a great shame to see him go inactive

Good luck all.

I noticed that about Elmacca over Christmas, it's extremely unusual for him (never happened before). I do hope he isn't lost to us; if he is, I do hope he is ok.

An away win shooting 3-23 from behind the line and getting outrebounded by 20? Most definitely a repeatable formula for success that! But we'll take it..

The ElMacca on twitter is not our Elmacca so no closer to knowing if he'll come back / is ok sadly.

I also noticed a couple of other ex-EBBL teams went bot last week - Donny Hawks & Extremadabra. I don't like change / please can we stop this.

Game of two defences I think, both teams didn’t shoot well at all.

I can’t think of any other ways to contact / check Elmacca is ok, let’s hope he logs back in when he gets the email about being inactive for a few weeks.

I also realised Extremadabra went BOT after seeing one of his previous players on the transfer list. I didn’t notice Doncaster did though, that is a shame… Panathinikos Bristol who was in the EBBL last season only has a few days to log in too.

Such a shame we're losing so many former EBBL managers.

Panathinaikos Bristol sold all their players and now only have the 3 they drafted, I don't think they plan on coming back.

I worry about Elmacca, I'm sure he would have said something if he was leaving the game.

As for the league, feel my coach screwed me over a little bit as most of my bench played more minutes than my starters but a win is a win, and that's all that matters. Plus I'm top of the conference, I need to make the most of it while I can

So 2 games in and I'm first in the EBBL, I did not expect that! I don't expect it to last long as I've had a pretty easy first 2 games.

Still missing Elmacca (it's been almost a month now), but he has managed to go 2-0! I don't expect that to last after his GS takes a hit after his main guys play their 3rd game of the week tonight. Also surprised to see Vecx unbeaten with one of the lowest team salaries in the league, and then js8 is bottom at 0-2 with one of the stronger teams in the league! We could be in for a weird and exciting season!

One interesting thing I saw is that the top 4/5 attendance incomes for the first games were all on the blue side. Is the game biased towards that side or what!

Does anyone have any thoughts about the new tactic improvements? I know Vecx used OI a few times last season with some success, as well as Donkeys this season (to less success). II also getting a boost hopefully can offer a better alternative to inside offences now as well. I'm more hopeful the defences are better as only being able to choose between M2M and 3-2 isn't ideal in a inside dominated world.

I thought the changes to tactics weren't being introduced till mid-season.
