Well guys, I f'ed up big time there. No excuses, I made a mistake, it happened in the past and I would love to move past it. It actually sank my manager approval to the low 40%, but it made quite a rise towards the end, so I'm thinking I redeemed myself just a little bit. Full redemption is something I am hoping will happen after this season.

Thought I would open up the debate up.

Everyone else, fire away!

I think you summed it up best, you made a mistake. It happens to everyone although that mistake is almost certainly the #1 reason why your approval rating sunk like a rock. Hell, I even voted thumbs down at that time. ;)

You're obviously one of the best managers in Canada and I think it's important to have a top manager running our top team. I also think it's best to have one manager in place for multiple seasons in terms of learning the NT players, getting to know the competition, creating dialogue with the individual managers that own our NT players and trainees etc...

You've got my vote right now but of course I don't know who else is running yet?

A question to all the managers running (mainly to Greerzilla because it applies to him):
How will you decide whether or not one of your players (or any player in general) is ready to make the team? Will you basically just pick the team, or will there be discussion on the offsite forum? Especially with you having so many guys that are right on the brink, this could become an important factor. Obviously Demers is a NT staple by now, but the other guys, maybe not so much. As someone also invested in this matter, how would you decide whether guys like Gaize, Stronks, Hadley, and Hearns are going to make the team?

When doing call ups, especially involving my own players, I do put up the skills of players on the offsite forum between a couple candidates and ask for advice. Ultimately, the decision does come down to me, but I am never going to pick one of my players just for the sake of having him on the NT.

I agree that Demers is a no brainer as the next closest PF is a few seasons away still. The SG position is the only position with real competition this season for roster spots. To start the season off, I would like to field the strongest possible team, but am not afraid to replace players because of game shape, injury, or skills of a player. Go look at some of the teams we play and look at how many teams will start the season off with 18 players. We will play our first game on the 20th and we will open with 10 players. I like to keep the flexibility because we have a few players that will worthy of a call up during the season, Stronks will be there.

So to sum it up, I will ask the community on the offsite forum and then I will make the final call. Whatever is best for Canada is how my decision is made. And SG is crazy, wait until the election is over and I will post the skills of the 4 SGs that are fighting for a spot and just how close they are. And I really lucked out with Hadley salary wise as in the next 3 weeks, he should pop in JS, OD, and Passing that will put him even closer to Kearns and Stronks.

I think it goes beyond just who gets on the team and into who gets playing time; people also need to remember that more playing time = more merchandising revenue.

I am pretty sure as long as the player plays for the NT, they are included in the merchandise revenue. Not 100% sure, but I never really noticed a difference when Gaize started or was the back up on the merchandise. I will say that with a Canadian on the NT, your merchandise is pretty good.

No matter what measures are taken I think at some point you have to trust that the NT manager is making decisions that are best for the team, not what's best for his team. And if he's not, I'm sure that he'll be called out on it.

If his goal is not winning NT games then this is an awful lot of work he's actually doing for a couple of extra merchandising $$$'s.

It's not a huge deal with Gaize on or off the team to me personally if that is what people are wondering. I also have Demers that is the backup PF/slash emergency C on the team.

Without getting too specific, and having to pick the NT shooting guards right now, I would go Kearns, Gaize, Stronks, Hadley in that order with Issa as an emergency call up. Though if you ask me again late in the season, the list probably looks like Kearns, Stronks, Hadley, Gaize in that order.

Well Greerzilla you are going against status quo by not resigning after 1 term. What are your thoughts on this?
