The Philippines were unable to sustain their 2-game momentum despite steamrolling their previous two opponents by an average of 57 points. Arto Saulep and Tõnis Paju lead the charge as they brought Estonia ahead 61-82 entering the 4th. Estonia's back court scored 24 and 17 points respectively and lead the team in scoring. Allan Eha had 14 rebounds paired with his 12 points playing center as Estonia had the advantage in the boards including 15 offensive rebounds. Philippines tried to mount a comeback during the ensuing quarter but were unable to close the gap despite their efforts.

Lelard Musa, who was pegged to start at PG during the game, lead all scorers with 19 points. Othello Dacoco chipped in 15 points. Salvador Tongson, who replaced the injured Amante Dorola in the second quarter, scored 13 points but shot only 38% from the floor.

The injury bug strikes again, now its Madrigal's turn. Good thing we have a light schedule this week and still got the win against Pakistan. On to the next one, Italy!

Philippines put an end to Italy's winning streak. Hands them 90-78 defeat behind Lelord Musa's 28 points.

The Philippines have to dig in deep after a slow start to hand Italy its first defeat in five games 90-78 last Monday at the Dallas Mavericks arena.

Despite shooting just 37% the Filipinos kept the Italians within striking distance. Lelord Musa's scintillating 28 points lead all scorers despite the rest of the team struggling as only three players scored in double figures.

Othello Dacoco
scored five consecutive points, including a wide open corner three, to start the 2nd quarter to break the 14-14 tie and put the team permanently ahead, he finished with 20 points and helped keep the Italians at bay. A rejuvenated team effort saw Philippines out-hustle Italy in the final canto 26-19 to deliver the final nail in the coffin as their opponents were unable to cut the lead below 8 entering the quarter. Filipino big men Libre and Madrigal's presence were vital as they grabbed a combined 35 rebounds to give the team an edge in the rebounding department.

The Philippines have now won their second straight game after the disappointing loss to Estonia 2 weeks ago. They are currently 3-0 when playing in front of a raucous home court.

Meanwhile Danilo Coscia paced Italy with 17 points but made only 3 of his 12 attempts from three. Star forward Danilo Marighetti had a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The Philippines cannot rest on their laurels as they head to Europe next week to face another undefeated team in world number 2 Spain.

Scores:
Philippines
Musa 28, Dacoco 20, Estillore 11, Libre 8, Dorola 6, Tongson 6, Madrigal 4, Dalida 4, Tapia 3, Inayan DNP-CD, Tenmatay DNP-CD, Oh DNP-CD

Italy
Coscia 17, Marighetti 16, Napolitano 16, Bergamini 12, Paneghini 11, Marletta 4, Zoff 2, Veronesi 0, Thagi 0, Montefusco 0, Frascarelli DNP-CD, Serafini DNP-CD

Quarters:
14-14; 43-36; 64-59; 90-78

Happy day for the Philippines! U21 and NT won!

Good job Coach! Sana tumakbo ka ulit. You are doing a good job with (partida) a young squad so far.
