U21 Press Release:
Pilpinas trounces Kazakhstan, 125-51
Seven Pilipinas players scored in double figures as they made short work of Kazakhstan, 125-51 at the Brexit arena Monday night.
Team Pilipinas took the fight out of Kazakhstan as early as the first quarter, outscoring them 35-9. “We want to maximize the point differential in both games against Thailand and Kazakhstan, in case that will be needed in the next phase of the tournament” Coach Jeorge said during the post-game press conference.
Forward Erald Luz led the assault against Kazakhstan, finishing the game with 21 points, 5 boards, 7 assists, and 2 steals in 28 minutes of action. “I am happy we got this win, and as one of the younger players in the team, it’s a great feeling to know anyone can contribute,” Ruz said after the game.
Curiously enough, only 7 Kazakhstan players were fielded in Monday’s match. It is rumored coach Big Bose is planning to move back to Italy after the game - anonymous sources indicate the Foreign Intelligence Service has plans in investigating the coach after Monday’s loss.
Boris Razdoburdin led Kazakhstan with 23 poins, 7 rebounds, and 1 assist in 42 minutes.
Pilipinas (3-0) gets to play against South Korea (0-3) this Monday, while Kazakhstan (1-2) faces New Zealand (1-2) in what appears to be a do or die game for both squads.
