V65 Playoffs - Quarter Finals
by D. Trickle (feat. V. Trevor)

Great 8 - 1st Round (QF)

#4 Hammersaurus Rex @ #1 oo Pwnstarz oo
The Clinic A hostile homecrowd ignited the electric atmosphere as Hammersaurus Rex made their post season debut against the undefeated, excellence of execution, #1 oo Pwnstarz oo.

After a spirited 20 minutes, oo Pwnstarz oo ratcheted their smothering defense to new heights and limited the H.Rex's offense to just 23 points for the rest of the game. Richard Straino would connect on 77% from the field to end with 23 points and 20 rebounds.

“I’m not sure what was more impressive. The staunch defense, or all the fine honeys showin' out tonight. The Clinic may be open extra hours tonite” celebrated the ever classy Dick Trickle.

#4 HAM 48
#1 PWN 98

#3 Captain Morgans @ #2 Something Epic
Epic Arena fans will remember this game for generations to come. This back and forth battle saw neither team backing down, that kept the majority of the game both teams were within a few possessions of the lead.

Chaz Foreman poured in a herioc effort with 29 points and 17 boards, but it wouldn't be enough to counter a monster performance by Ermanno Brodolini off the bench, going 8 for 10 in just 24 minutes. The Captain Morgans will raise anchor and chart a course for the G8 Conference Finals while Something Epic's fails their run at a second D.V title.

#3 CAP 103
#2 SEP 96

Big 8 - 1st Round (QF)

#3 IXLOS Sabers @ #2 Violatorz
The Sabers entered their quarter final matchup having never won a game in Violation Arena. From the opening tip, Violatorz kept a tight grip on the rock and were able to build a 7 point lead in the first 2:00. After burning a timeout to settle down, the Sabers roared back with mid-quarter surge that would put them ahead 23-13 at the end of the 1st.

VIO's defense cooled off IXL's attack and brought them to within 6 midway through the fourth. With a key foul out and then an injury with 6:13 to play, the Sabers were left with only 5 players with starting SG Gorostidi 1 foul away from disqualification. Their backs against the wall, the IXL bench would rise to the occasion, pouring in 15 down the stretch to clinch the game.

Led by Ricardo Frutos’ game high 29 points and Jordan Starkey's 22 boards, the Sabers bullied the hometeam underneath, out rebounding them 57-34. The soldout crowd of 6508 could only watch as the Violatorz refused to foul in the closing minutes thereby sealing the 17 point defeat and exiting the playoffs in the first round for the first time in franchise history. IXL picks up their first PO win and advances to the B8 Championship.

#3 IXL 83
#2 VIO 66

#4 LSD @ #1 NBA Swag
Lebron Slam Down entered their B8 title defense against the salary behemoth #1 NBA Swag. LSD drew first blood in the opening minutes with their league leading offense putting NBA Swag’s perimeter defense on it's heels to close the first leading 36-29.

Enter the 2nd, with NBA Swag’s countering from every angle. Mismatches down low led to scoring and lopsided rebounding while the Swag backcourt bombarded the perimeter. All systems would eventually fail and the overmatched, Slam Down loses on the road and exits in the first round. NBA Swag advances and will host IXLOS Sabers this Tuesday for the B8 Title.

#4 LSD 102
#1 NBA 125

Note: Congrats to Dick Trickle who's spreadable excellence continues it's glory with his forecasting 3 games within 10 points. "Need some quick spreads on the rizzle? Call your nizzle, D. T

V65 Playoffs - Semifinal Preview
by D. Trickle & V. Trevor

Big 8 Championship
#3 IXLOS Sabers @ #1 NBA Swagger (- 3) (o/u 196)
Gustavo Alejandro Gorostidi leads IXLOS Sabers into NBA Allstar Weekend, with their own swagger. After pounding the perennial power, Violatorz, the Sabers seem to like the role of David. Taking the role of Goliath, league freshly announced MVP, Francisezk Krak. Following last seasons disappointing 7-15 record, the anonymous general manager went on a spending spree, dropping over 1.1 million over 5 days.

The victor gets their 1st shot at the Finals, a position, after last season, I’m not sure many would have predicted. Who will advance, the mad spender, or the shrewd strategist? 1 things for sure, it will be entertaining and interesting.

Great 8 Championship
#3 Captain Morgans @ #1 oo Pwnstarz oo (-24) (o/u 168)
Fresh off their first round toppling of Something Epic, the flownominal Captain Morgans enter The Clinic as the dark horse of the G8.

The league leading defense of the Pwnstarz will be put to the test as the hot handed Morgans look to continue their well rounded attack combined with their borderline marxist ball distribution.

Look for the Pwnstarz to exploit Morgan’s suspect perimeter defense and slap the handcuffs on the visitors both inside the paint and out. Morgans will need to count on PWN to have cold shooting, foul trouble, and a key injury to come out on top. Pwnstarz is a second half team, known for incinerating huge deficits fast and running away with games out of the break. The Captain will need to bank a huge early lead to weather the stormy waters of The Clinic to advance. They relax at all and it's man overboard. Across the court, Pwntarz will need to keep the fouls low and the clock running. Keeping offensive pressure on Morgans perimeter and controling the boards will keep their win streak alive and pave the road to the V65 Finals.

<< BIG 8 CHAMPIONSHIP >>
#3 IXLOS Sabers - 93
#1 NBA Swagger - 81
History was made as a pair of sophmores season teams met for the Big 8 title this past Saturday. The big money NBA Swag have auto-piloted success all season long, having also won MVP honors with Francis Krak. In contrast, the Sabers have thrown everything including the kitchen sink into creating their winning recipe.

The action started fast and furious as both teams layed it on the line early. Swag’s high powered offense came out gunning. The Sabers were able to counter successfully and kept the pressure on the Krak, the MVP, holding him to just a single point in the first. NBA piled up the fouls early while IXL capitalized and took a 5 point lead into the break.

Swag jump started their offense in the third and would outscore the Sabers to inch closer to the lead. However, foul trouble again would force Swag to dig into their significantly weaker bench, stalling productivity for their scoring. With 7:08 left in the 4th, Krak would pick up his sixth and sit down with his lowest scoring game in 6 games (12 pts). NBA Swag would end the game racking up a 21-8 foul margin which allowed IXL to create breathing room down the stretch. IXL continues on to the finals as champions of the Big 8.

<< GREAT 8 CHAMPIONSHIP >>
#3 Captain Morgans - 84
#1 oo Pwnstarz oo - 81
Captain Morgans, the 3 seat, had nothing to lose when they ventured into The Clinic, to take on the 24 point favorites, oo Pwnstarz oo. The largest attendance in the Clinic’s history were on hand, 8091, those were paying customers. You could tell early on this game had a different buzz.

It wasn’t hard to see where this game was going early on. Within 10 seconds, Maciej Pinkosz had already committed his 1st foul. Not even 2 minutes later, foul 2 would be collected. This put the oo Pwnstarz oo in an awkward position, seeing as how they only had 1 PG dressed for the game. Captain Morgans would get balanced scoring to amass an 8 point lead at the close of the 1st.

The 2nd quarter started much like the 1st for the home team, with Pinkosz grabbing his 4th and 5th foul, 3 minutes into the quarter. Fortunately for them, he was able to bring the oo Pwnstarz oo back by playing under control for most of the remaining 1st half, before fouling out.

In the 2nd half, Captain Morgans offensive power, Geliy MIlekhin took over. Scoring outside and inside, nothing the vaunted defense of the oo Pwnstarz oo, could do to stop him. Milekhin connected on 16 of 26 shots, for a game high 37 points. The game would go back and forth, until Captain Morgans pulled away to a 10 point lead midway through the 4th quarter. But the oo Pwnstarz oo, would scrap back, coming within 1 point of taking lead the 1 min left. But Geliy Milkehin would be the hero today. Captain Morgans stun the oo Pwnstarz oo 85-81. After a previous season ended fighting off relegation, Morgans bounce back to become G8 Champions. They will represent the G8 in the V65 Finals on the road against the IXLOS Sabers this Tuesday.
