The first round of the Battlers Tournament saw some massive upsets.
You Shouldve Dunked! vs. WA IS A DUMP 88 - 76
(46263448)OTT9 manager of You Shouldve Dunked! had been talking all week about his big game against WA IS A DUMP. It seems Bryce was not listening and in the upset of the round the up and coming division III team took down the winningiest team in Australian history. Bryce even put in more effort! Quite a scalp.
Chumunga vs. Melbourne Sharks 118 - 130
(46263379)tremell is already in shock over this one. An easy match for Chumunga an ABBL team some have picked as the dark horse to take the ABBL crown this season against a struggling division III team. Melbourne Sharks have been around since season eight and this is probably the franchises proudest moment.
adams guns vs. Bringing Sexy Back 85 - 98
(46263377)Kynlala Knights vs. TeamAkuma 35 - 117
(46263390)Very high profile teams adams guns and Kynlala Knights both went down but neither should be a surprise as both are in full tank mode and Iwen did have a very tough opponent in Akuma. Likewise adam was facing a Fishbowler and you know how tricky they are.
Nevada Saucers vs. Flordbarp Gebtrarps 78 - 96
(46263288)Australia's number one "gangsta" Rozzie joined his homey tremell in the loss colum as his nightmare start to the season continued. Top 16 in the cup last season, bottom 500 this season. Could it be worse? Oh yeah, he was beaten by a bot! Back to the ghetto Rozzie!
South Gisborne Storm vs. Docs Patients 94 - 102
(46263684)Little Bainsy of South Gisborne Storm always had a hard matchup taking on Docs Patients but couldn't have Big Bainsys luck going down badly while the Gisborne Gladiators survived in what will have to be one of the most controversial endings of the season when a Shot clock violation was called on Southern Cross Basketball Association after they had only had the ball for seven seconds. The league is investigating.
Northcote Slammers vs. Melb Magic 73 - 74
(46263624)Greeno and the Northcote Slammers came so close to making the ABBL last seasonbut this season they are bounced out of the cup in the first round on a heartbreaking one point loss to division IV team Melb Magic. With 0:00 on the clock and one point up Northcote's $33,000 SG fouls $4,000 rookie Uroš Živanov who calmly sinks both. He really is a MVP.
