U21 NT - Update

Our two first matches against Iran and Ghana both delivered us a win. In the consolation tournament we are currently 12th, above countries like France, Spain and Russia..

Iran - Austria 83 - 101
Our comb Kempf-Hu-Schwarz was HOT this match, with Kempf top-scorer 38 pts (65%). On the other hand, our inside defense could be better. The Iranian C was there top-player with 22 pts, and there SF had the most rebounds (20). Satisfied with this first win.

Austria - Ghana 50 - 0
Not much to tell, as Ghana has no active teams and therefore no U21. Reglementary 50 - 0 win.

Upcoming matches
And the positive news is that we are lucky with the next matches. We will play the following countries:

U.A.E. (75)
There 'top-players' are mostly PF /C and have a salary-range between 13 k. and 6 k. Should be a win.

Bahamas (80)
The Bahamas Roster is equal to the U.A.E. Roster. Big men and no guards. Again a game which we should win.

Argentina (26)
You can't win them all. Argentina has a very strong team, i foresee a loss this game.

Greece (27)
Currently 27th on the worldrank, first in the Consolation tournament. But there team is not as impressive as Argentina.
Could we make a surprise this match?

Wales (95)
The welsh have a weak team, again mostly focused inside. Top player Ross Perlstein (10K., PF). Shouldn't be a
problem, but we have to watch out for underestimation.

Senegal (70)
More of the same, a weak team, but beware! They can surprise!

Looking at this schedule, we should make it to the next round! I'm happy with 2 losses, but will try to make the 'surprise'.

U21 NT - Update

Since the last post we've played two matches

Austria - U.A.E. 98 - 74
With a good prediction of there Inside tactics and less effort we've won this match with a differnce of 24 pts. Good first half (51-28), Second half we took it 'easy'. This match Hu was topscorer with 31 pts.

Bahamas - Austria 79 - 98
Another 'regular' win, with Vogel on PG instead of Schwarz. We had some trouble stopping there PG (Guest, 25 pts), but overall we had the upperhand. Kempf (20 Pts) topscorer.

Next up Argenina and Greece, two difficult matches. I don't expect to surprise either of them. With Wales and Senegal as final matches we should be able to qualify for the next round.

schade, sehr knapp verloren gegen Griechenland, 1:30 vor Schluss war +1 (52582) Kempf hat zu wenig gepasst :-P

Und die andern haben zu wenig gescored! 56 Punkten von Kempf ! Was ein Spiel.

With a 86-67 win over Senegal we're through to the next Round!

U21 NT - Update

Results of the matches, played in the qualifying round:
Austria - Argentina 60 - 104; calculated loss;
Greece - Austria 81 - 75; Close match, too bad of our 2nd Q (23-9), but best game of Kempf (56 pts!);
Austria - Wales 98 - 77; 'Regular' win;
Senegal - Austria 67-86; Another 'regular' win.

With these results we were 25th in the ranking, and we're through to the next round!

In the second round we will face Greece (again), but this time on there ground....

I guess we can expect a close game. Looking at there roster, Salary-wise there top-players are the guards
(23k / 17k / 17k.). Compared to our top we have an advantage (30k / 25k. / 20k.).
But inside they are have some nice players (15k. / 14k. / 13k.), were we are less (13k. / 12k. / 7k.)

Tactics Greece have played:
PtB 4x; LI 2x; RnG 1x; Mo 2x.

Any suggestions how to play them are welcome. Let's try to reach the next round!
