Pilipinas U21 trips Singapore U21 in the 4th, 33-8, beats them, 87-51

Pilipinas U21 continues their domination in the first round, beating a ready Singapore team, 87-51

Both teams used Princeton and Man to Man offense-defense scheme wherein the Singapore struggled mightily in the 4th quarter.

Othello Cinco, of Waffen Engineering, lead the way for Pilipinas U21 with 22 points and 3 rebounds on 9-20 field goals.

Jack Alvin Celebria lead the bench with 16 points, most of it in the 4th quarter to team up with Cinco, who also exploded in the 4th canto.

Gilberto Rolando Ygnacio added 15 points and 9 rebounds to support Cinco and Celebria.

The Pinoys thought the game is over with a 21-12 first quarter lead, but the Singaporeans took advantage of the poor shooting for the Filipinos in the 2nd to keep it close at 34-31 at the half. The Filipinos, however light it up in the 2nd half, outscoring them, 53-20, including a 33-8 4th quarter run to seal the win for the Filipinos.

On an interview, Coach Fabio said, "This is not an easy game as I told my boys. This is going to be a war, and the Singaporeans gave it all. I will give credit to them for playing their A-game, and forced my boys to play their A-game as well unlike the other games."

Pilipinas U21 held the Singaporeans to 24.68% field goal shooting (19/77), including a 7 of 31 from deep, and outrebounded them, 53-44.

Yap Tse Leng's 17 point, 10 rebound effort went for naught as the Singaporeans struggled to find their rhythm, except the 2nd quarter.

The scores

Pilipinas U21 87- Cinco 22, Celebria 16, Ygnacio 15, Escobar 9, Evacitas 8, Mabaquiao 8, Miranda 5, Tarroza 2, Vidal 2, Tuliva 0

Singapore U21 51- Tse Leng 17, Andy 14, Fu Qiang 6, Quiyum 6, Meng Chi 5, Ang 3, Woon Loong 0, Jien Ling 0, Johnny 0

Quarter scores: 21-12, 34-31, 54-43, 87-51

The player of the game is Othello Cinco of Waffen Engineering lead by GM fpanzer10!!!

On an interview, Cinco said, "This is a hard game to play. The Singaporeans gave their all, they lost all momentum in the 4th, but I gotta give respect to them for playing hard against us. We dominated, but we felt like we're really losing the game. Coach Fabio gave me freedom to shoot and score, and I took advantage of it. Thank you, Coach!"

Pilipinas U21's dominating run comes to a screeching halt, thanks to Hong Kong U21, 80-67

Pilipinas U21's run came to a screeching halt as Hong Kong played their best game against the Filipinos, 80-67.

Hong Kong used Push the Ball - Man to Man approach, while the Filipinos used Look Inside - Man to Man.

The balanced scoring of Hong Kong is enough to beat the Filipinos as their defense as well held them to only 18 points at the half, and 5 in the 2nd quarter.

Chan Maohai lead the way for Hong Kong U21 with 17 points, 3 rebounds ,and 3 steals on 7-12 field goals. Wu Huey kuo supported Maohai with 12 points on 5-8 shooting.

Hong Kong U21's defense held the Filipinos to shoot 35.9% (28/78) field goals. The Filipinos also struggled at the line, only shooting 10 of 20. Hong Kong shot 6 of 17 from downtown compared to the 1 of 11 for the Pinoys.

Hong Kong had a slim 16-13 first quarter lead, but the Filipinos struggled mightily in the 2nd, and HK U21 took advantage of it, making it 37-18 at the half. Hong Kong U21 continued its dominance in the 3rd to seal the deal, 65-37, eventually settling for an 80-67 victory.

On an interview, Coach Fabio said, "We didn't expect our boys to play like this, but I'll give credit to Hong Kong's defense, especially they only gave us 37 points after three quarters, knowing that our team's great in scoring. The HK boys definitely kicked our butts tonight to serve as a wake-up call for us that everybody's capable of beating us, so we must not be complacent on every game."

Gilberto Rolando Ygnacio and Mar Tarroza's 18 point, 13 rebound effort each went for naught as the 28 point lead by Hong Kong U21 after 3rd quarter proved too much for Pilipinas U21 to handle.

The scores

Hong Kong U21 80 - Maohai 17, Huey kuo 12, Yin Xiang 12, Huy Hoang 11, Libang 8, Yonghui 7, Xiaopeng 5, Chun Shun 4, Chin Hin 2, Tener 2

Oh boy that defense is so good! On to the next game! I'll treat my boys some pizza since they really did good tonight. They showed that we're not only good on offense, but on the defensive side as well. Thank you, brothers!"

Pilipinas U21 smothers Malaysia U21

Pilipinas U21 continues its winning ways in the 2nd round of the tournament, defeating Malaysia U21, 74-96.

Malaysia used Motion - 2-3 zone attack, while Pilipinas used Look Inside - 3-2 zone, neutralizing the potential shooting of Raposo.

Malaysia U21 held an 18-15 1st quarter lead, only to squander it in the 2nd as they only scored 7 points, due to the great outside defense of Pilipinas.

Pilipinas never lost the lead after the half, only to make it bigger as they obliterated Malaysia in the 3rd, 35-16 to set up the final score of 74-96.

Jack Alvin Celebria lead the way off the bench with 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists in only 21 minutes.

Davey Evacitas lead the storm for Pilipinas U21 with 14 points, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.

Guilherme Raposo lead Malaysia U21 with 24 points and 5 rebounds, but on 10 of 31 field goals, and 4 of 19 3 point field goals.

Lei Yunan added 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists for the Malays in a losing effort.

On an interview, Coach Fabio Menta said, "We prepared for Raposo specifically in this game. He's a great scorer who can spark up to 50 to 60 points when he feels it. I give credit to Naranjo, Cinco, and the rest of the guards and wings who provided great defense for us. Our bigs did great despite the 2-3 zone of Malaysia U21 the whole game. Our boys had more fire in their eyes after that first quarter deficit, and I give credit to them for that. On to the next!"

The scores:

Malaysia U21 (74) - Raposo 24, Yunan 20, Vaidyanathan 8, Pius 7, Chen 6, Zilei 5, Nianti 4, Changming 0, Defan 0

Quarter scores: 18-15, 25-41, 41-76, 74-96

The player of the game is Davey Evacitas, from team Flug Feld, managed by GM Motion!!!

On an interview, Evacitas said, "Martinez Naranjo should be the best player. He forced Raposo to take 31 shots, only making 10, and 4 of 19 from downtown! Our team did great on defense, especially on the next three quarters as our players are more energized after a 18-15 deficit after the first. Hopefully we can beat another tough team in New Zealand."

Pilipinas U21 devastated Jimmy Jackson, New Zealand U21 by 91

Jimmy Jackson is known to be a great scorer for New Zealand U21, but not tonight as he had one of the worst shooting nights in his BuzzerBeater career, holding him to only 19 points on a horrible shooting as Pilipinas U21 dominates, 137-46 in the 2nd round of the tournament.

New Zealand U21 used Patient - Man to Man, while Pilipinas U21 used Push The Ball - Man to Man.

Pilipinas U21 dominated every category in this game. New Zealand can't even stay away from foul trouble as they gave Pilipinas U21 27 attempts at the foul line, making 16, compared to 3 of 7 of NZ U21.

The defense of the Pinoys are at top notch in this game, holding NZ U21 to only 3 points in the first quarter, while scoring 31 points.

New Zealand U21 had a good 2nd quarter themselves, but still outscored by the Pinoys, 27-21 in favor of the Pinoys, giving them a 58-24 lead.

The 3rd and 4th quarters were dominated by Pilipinas U21 badly, outscoring New Zealand U21, 79-22 in the 2nd half, and 41 in the fourth, all by the bench.

Davey Evacitas lead the way for Pilipinas U21 with 25 points, 7 rebounds ,9 assists, and 4 steals, flirting a triple-double in the process.

Mar Tarroza had the highest rating with 17.0 with his 13 points, 12 rebounds, and 5 assists.

On an interview, Coach Fabio Menta said, "Wow! This team showed unforgiving defense on New Zealand. Jimmy Jackson had a bad game despite his 19 points, and my boys definitely prepared bigtime for this game. They showed how serious they are on winning this game. When they gave 21 points on New Zealand in the 2nd, they vowed to give them only 20 plus in the entire half, and they did with 22! Our boys scored 79 in the process. And our bench?! Scored 41 points in the fourth quarter! Unbelievable! Next week is a real test for our bigs as we will face Indonesia U21 and their tough bigs. We'll be prepared for that!"

Jimmy Jackson still lead New Zealand U21 with 19 points and 3 rebounds, but on 8-42 field goals and 1-10 3 point field goals.

Quarter scores: 31-3, 58-24, 96-40, 137-46

The player of the game is Davey Evacitas from Flug Feld, managed by GM Motion!!!

On an interview, Evacitas said, "This is another tough game for us. I thought our defense took on an another level with this game. Jimmy Jackson had 42 shots, only making 8?! That's something right there! I think Martinez Naranjo should be the MVP for this game. His defense is just simply amazing! Up to the next game! Our real test for our bigs against Indonesia U21!"
