NT Press Release
Panthers lose to Germany, 84-60
Team Pilipinas did what they could to prepare for Germany - it was just not enough.
The Panthers were clearly outmatched: being held to a paltry 37% from the field, were unable to convert a 3-pointer out of 20 attempts, and did not get to visit the foul line. "You cannot win games if you shoot poorly, and not even shoot a free throw. It just does not work that way," coach Morwood said during the post game conference.
Prudence Oton led the Panthers with 28 points, but had to do this in 35 shots - and missed all 11 attempts from beyond the arc. "We gave it our 110%, Germany was the better team," the star guard said.
The loss drops the Panthers to 1-1, with one game left in the Repechange phase of the Season 56 World Championships. Pilpinas has to beat Tunisia, and hope that Uruguay gets blown out badly by Germany, to have a shot in getting second place in Pool D.
