Team Pandesal has officially announced a strategic roster move, welcoming Soon-Jae Kwon, a 19-year-old point guard with MVP potential, while parting ways with Per Mathiasson, another young guard previously in the team’s developmental rotation.
Soon-Jae Kwon, standing 6’4”, brings solid ball-handling and passing fundamentals alongside respectable defensive versatility. His addition provides Pandesal with a long-term project player who fits the team’s evolving perimeter-oriented identity and training roadmap.
Per Mathiasson, also 19 and with Perennial Allstar potential, has been released to free up roster space. While Mathiasson showed promise with his balanced skillset and solid inside scoring for a guard, the team opted for Kwon’s higher ceiling and broader development trajectory.
“It was a tough decision because Mathiasson gave us depth, but Kwon’s potential and profile match our future plans perfectly. We’re excited to integrate him into our training program,” said the team’s general manager.
Soon-Jae Kwon will immediately join Pandesal’s youth-focused training system as the team continues refining its backcourt for both current competitiveness and long-term success in USA IV.61.
