Bowling Green - In front of a roaring crowd of 9,598 fans who clearly believe in miracles (or just really love nachos), the Bowling Green Sharks took to the court Saturday night with high hopes and fresh shoelaces. Unfortunately, the Wake Forest Demon Deacons arrived with a flamethrower and a man named Lawrence Wetzel.
Wetzel torched the nets for 31 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists, earning Player of the Game honors. The Demon Deacons cruised to a 128–92 victory, leaving the Sharks with plenty of tape to review. Despite the scoreboard, the Sharks had their moments. James Yates led the home team with 25 points, reminding everyone that sharks do, in fact, bite. Adam Phipps added a gritty double-double, which we assume involved rebounds and not actual double cheeseburgers.
The Sharks, now 0–11, remain undefeated in team spirit and concession stand enthusiasm. They hit the road Tuesday, August 19 to face the Wooden Warriors (6–5) at 7pm.
