Bad luck in some games for you guys that could have placed you higher in the table if the results of those close games were different. One of those games was against us in the first round, a very close that could have been won by both sides.

Great respect for Vecx

Good luck for you in the future.
Greetings,
Jonas

(sorry for any language mistake, hope my ideas are clear)

Sadly from your side, we played our best game of tournament against you guys. Now we are both out of the competition, but let's have a new shot next season All the best for England.

its cool mate, we hurt bad when he isnt in shape but its life. I remember a season where i couldnt shake the 7 GS starting bug on innes for about 6 straight weeks. Clearly we need to sacrifice more rookies to the BB gods

Hey all.

I genuinely had the best of intentions to write match reports this season, and even after each game I thought I might do it this week, but I guess I'm just a bit shit? (and BB international management is really most suited to Uni students with loads of free time on their hands I reckon...not that I imagine many people that age are playing it these days). Just life and feeling busy innit...soz like.

On Monday we have the first knockout round. There is 0 chance we get through unfortunately. 0.5% if I'm generous? :) We ended up with a 6-2 record and the 22nd seed and are playing away at 7-1 Russia. Russia should be an 8-0 team and 6th/7th seed really, for some reason Lithuania crunched Russia (on a TIE). Lith got a home seed which they wouldn't have had otherwise so maybe that was worth it for them.

Other potential opponents:
9th, Netherlands - probably better than us and beat us last year, but no monsters.
10th, Uruguay - one big looking C but nothing too scary.
11th, Russia
12th, Slovakia - Good gs and not sure I fancy them much either (beat us in the first game this season, but less effort on our part), at least less good than Russia.
13th, Belarus - definitely look beatable. Would've been the dream draw. (they've played 1 good team this season)

Maybe not that unlucky in the end? I just wanna play Belarus tbh.

This U21 game against Russia is really distracting me from my work but I can't stop watching...

Just an update as you may have noticed there have been no writeups these last few weeks.

I've been arranging scrims with other NT's that did not make the next stage of the competition. I have been using the lineup that is most likely to be playing next seasons, whilst introducing a few options in younger bigs. I've got 1 or 2 more games lined up with Finland and will be varying tactics in order to see how well our team performs under certain conditions. This is all legwork for next seasons and hopefully we will see a little more breakthrough should the work pay off.

In the mean time it is worth trying to get good gameshape on the players you see on our roster as that affects my choices and also will result in better merchandising your team.

Thanks again folks.

It's fortunate that you are a better GM than you are tipster Bergkamp ;-) Great win!

I'm assuming that if you gave yourself 0.5% of beating Russia, the chance of you doing that and then having to prepare to play Albania were the smallest number you could think of.....

Season 41 U21 raw player stats for anyone interested(competitive games only)

player mins pts ass rebs stl blk +-

Mahoney 346 132 30 42 13 4 104
Arthur 342 101 17 110 8 18 87
Gibney 329 88 41 69 9 8 92
Stannard 313 173 42 38 7 6 50
Parmenter 169 70 12 60 5 9 88
Tewari 165 60 12 47 5 10 123
Murdoch 153 43 9 28 3 3 93
Stanborough 151 40 2 63 2 2 111
Lal 148 86 16 23 6 4 98
Allen 147 52 8 36 4 4 16
Cummins 141 50 19 9 5 98
Flanagan 57 2 5 2 1 1 10
Redman 54 18 2 18 1 3 35
Hall 41 20 4 3 1 2 12
Bartolo 39 11 2 10 3 1 19
Banker 36 20 4 17 1 31
Mocarski 21 8 6 -9

(I've had to sacrifice the "starts" and "subs" columns to fit in the +- instead)
So, #of starts:
All 11: Mahoney, Arthur; 10: Gibney; 8: Stannard; 4: Allen; 3: Parmenter, Lal; 2: Tewari; 1: Murdoch, Stanborough, Redman

Small samples all around so you have to take it all with a pinch of salt maybe.

You can see they split into 3 groups quite nicely, the 4 guaranteed starters if they were fit and in good GS (Mahoney, Stannard, Gibney and Arthur), the solid backups/sometime starters (Parmenter down to Cummins) then the fringe players from Flanagan downwards. 17 players got minutes over the season (the unlucky guy I called up but didn't use- Mat Dupre, HOF potential with good TSP who sold for 2.6m last season so he might have long term NT potential instead, didn't end up with enough defence or game shape for me to use unfortunately)

Per 36s for the 4 starters (pts, ass, reb, stl, blk):
Mahoney: 13.7, 3.1, 4.4, 1.4, 0.4
Stannard: 19.9, 4.8, 4.4, 0.8, 0.7
Gibney: 9.6, 4.5, 7.6, 1.0, 0.9
Arthur: 10.6, 1.8, 11.6, 0.8, 1.9

Other standout stuff:
Lal average 20+ points per 36, Cummins had the best assists at 4.9, Stanborough the best rebounder (15 per 36) but at 0.5 assists, blocks and steals he couldn't do much else (unlike the 2 guys below)
Parmenter: 14.9, 2.6, 12.8, 1.1, 1.9
Tewari: 13.1, 2.6, 10.3, 1.1, 2.2
Really small samples but Bartolo with 2.8 steals and Banker with a ridiculous 20pt, 17rb, 4as statline are impressive.

It was a fun season overall! I didn't have hopes of making the last 8 and things just fell pretty nicely. If Israel was either at home for us, or they didn't use more effort that was a close matchup we could've won, they weren't a standout 4 seed...I went with a TIE just to give us the smallest chance vs Germany in the next round, in the end they won the tournament pretty comfortably/impressively (due to the way the semi's fell).

Arthur, Allen, Cummins, Flanagan and Bartolo are all back this year so we have some decent experience/quality in our these 5 (hopefully).

Excel, copy to notepad, manually sort out the spacing, then use [q ] and [pre ] tags on the forum! And a fair bit of trial and error / correcting it when it didn't work / look right at first ;)
