Pilipinas U21 takes advantage of SK U21's poor shooting, 94-117
The Pilipinas U21 team assured its dominance this season once again by taking advantage of South Korea's horrid three point shooting, 94.117, last December 30, 2019, days before New Year started.
It was a horrible shooting from deep for both teams, actually, but the Philippines made more and had better percentage than the Hanguks. The SKs shot 3 of 25, while the Philippines shot 6 of 23 from downtown.
The Philippines used Push The Ball and 3-2 zone, which made the life of the South Koreans difficult, while the SKs used Run and Gun-Man to Man approach, wherein the 3-2 zone took its toll on the Hanguks, forcing them to take contested threes throughout the contest. Despite the 3-2 zone, the Pinoys still outrebounded them, 45-54 and had more assists, 16-27, but shot 11-24 from the line.
On an interview, Coach Fabio Menta said, "Our defense tonight is good. Knowing that Hanguk U21 will use Run and Gun offense, and they have some of the best shooters I've seen, I told my team to contest those threes everytime. Every three they make, there will be 10 ROUNDS OF LUSOT. They made 3 , therefore my boys will have 30 ROUNDS OF LUSOT.
The Philippines outscored Hanguk, 13-21 to start the quarter, and the defense really showed for the Pinoys.
Hanguk took over the 2nd qtr, 29-28 to make 42-49 at the half. The third quarter was really good for the Pinoys as they had huge momentum going to the 4th with a 27-35 blast, making it 69-84, and totally destroyed them by 8 again in the 4th, 25-33 to set the score of 94-117.
Othelo Cinco lead the way with 22 points on 10-17 shooting, despite 4 fouls.
Mar Tarroza had the best rating with 16.0 for his statline of 19 pointss, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 blocks on 7-9 fgs(2-4 from deep)
Yoo-Chan Kim lead Hanguk with 29 points and 8 assists in an losing effort.
Errol Tuliva lead the Pinoys off the bench with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks in 20 minutes.
Our MVP of the Game is Othelo Cinco from Waffen Engineering, managed by fpanzer10!!!
On an interview, Cinco said, "Our team played defense and I'm getting a little help from other assistant coaches on how I should be trained. The South Koreans shot poorly from downtown, and we took advantage of it."
