Hammerheads Denied for Second Time in Finals

For the second consecutive season, the Harrisburg Hammerheads fail to advance to DII with a game three loss in the finals. Season 15 saw them lose to The Blue Stars and Season 16, the Rashmonsters.

Obviously management feels the team is really, really close to breaking through. With a relatively young but seasoned roster, the goal is, once again, to win the League III.7 crown.

Any kind of roster turnover should be minor for the most part in season 17. The team could be looking to upgrade the PF position which is currently occupied by the veteran Demostenes Michelini. Klaus Birresborn and Elbert Holden will continue to train and develop into a superb backcourt. Hammerheads have brought in assistant coach, Bill Russell, to work with newcomer center Szervac Karacsony in hopes of teaching him defensive footwork to stay out of foul trouble...which killed the teams hopes in the Season 16 finals. And last but certainly not least, team captain, Ray Muncy will once again handle SF duties.

Muncy - "We've been SO close these past couple of seasons. Needless to say, its been frustrating. I've been here since being drafted back in season 6 at age 18 so I've seen us grow year after year and appreciate managements efforts to get us to the next level. I love my teammates, this organization, and this town. Its up to us to get it done now."

Its not going to be easy. Big 8 continues to get better every season. Should they be fortunate to make it out of there, Delta 9 is always a thorn in the Hammerheads side. Newcomer, Raleigh Roughriders look like a tough out as well with their deep roster sliding down from DII.
