Summary of season 29

Having a talented squad, it's with high hopes that Malaysia U21 NT started the Consolation Tournament.

A first win after overtime against Norway showed the potential but also showed the limits of this team. Pakistan didn't dare to play a single game in the whole season so it was a disappointing no show as it would have built confidence among the players. Going to Slovakia was a difficult experience for our young players, first loss of the season, a 27-point deficit and only 57 points scored. Back home, Malaysia made things clear as they scored 123 points to win by 43 against Paraguay. The game against Venezuela was the most important one, a win would have almost qualified Malaysia for next round while a loss would have left Malaysia with some uncertainties. Every thing went as planned until the 4th quarter when Malaysia scored only 3 points (in 12 minutes!) while Venezuela managed to scored 16 points to win by 15. The most disappointing moment of the season came against India, while the team is not bad, Malaysia was clearly better but they lost by 12 and said goodbye to the second phase of the Consolation Tournament. Finally, the last game of the season, Malaysia beat Barbados but it was a game which didn't change anything.

In conclusion, that season 29 was disappointing because Malaysia underperformed. All the players must be thanked for their good behaviour and some of them could be seen in a few years in the NT.

The season 29 Malaysia U21 NT squad was:
Edward Aldean
Brendon Atama
Huang Chengkang
Gary Gaisah
Ricky George
Michel Ginap
Jon Gombirod
Nicholas Gonsim
Chen Guangjie
Dicky Looi
Edwin Majabou
Joe Nicolas
Tommy Pelip
Ximen Quanjiang
Mao Shunming
Ilayaraja Vikesh
