The dark knight: David Flanagan

Summer day on Zeeschelp where 22047 spectators "wasted" 1 hour and 40 minutes to watch the game between the Belgium Lions and our Irish Green Army. The majority of the spectators were stunned in the first quarter when the greens played well and seemed in the control of the game. Darkness and chills started as the villain David Flanagan started his role of throwing bricks on from every position. He managed to get 1 out of 15, that is a 0.067% conversion rate, from which 0 out of 5 were beyond the arc. Second and third quarters were a fiasco managing to get 13 points behind. Because of the hard work of our MVP Nicky Sheehy we managed to stay in the game, playing a bit better in the 4th quarter but in the end loosing 77-86 and his 22 points and 8 rebounds counted for nothing.

We were happy with the newest addition to the team T. McCormack who managed to add to our performance with his 13 points and 9 rebounds. On the other hand were not so happy with J. O'Gorman who could have scored more than his 12 points.

Of course the players are playing as good as the manager makes them play, the outside isolation did not work as much as I hoped since the perimeter defense of the lions worked well, so much of the blame is on me.

However we know how to get out of the darkness, the answer being Nicky Sheehy the guy who helped us yesterday but also brought the victory in the start of last season with the Dutch Lions.

Next game: Ghana U21

Go Eire!
