Press Announcements

А minute of silence.

On January 25, at 17:00, a former basketball player, the only Scot who played in the NBA, died.
The sad news came from the United States. Former center Robert Archibald died in Illinois. The basketball player died at the age of 40, and the cause of death has not yet been reported.
Archibald remains the only Scottish player to have played in the NBA. During his career in the world's strongest League, he played 44 games in 2002-04: for Memphis, Phoenix, Toronto and Orlando. After the NBA, the center has built quite a successful career in Europe, where he managed to play for Spanish "Valencia", "Joventut", "Unicaja" and "Zaragoza", as well as Italian "Scavolini"and Ukrainian "Azovmash". Moreover, in the Ukrainian championship, Robert became the most valuable player in the final series of 2008. In that season, Archibald became the champion with Azovmash.
At Junior and youth level, he played for the Scottish national team. And at the 2011 European Championships and the 2012 Olympic games in London - for the United team of great Britain.

He must have been an unusual person... R.I.P.
