The Cross Chargers slipped by the uninterested Cow Lickers last night 89-86 to even their mark to 2-2 in their first season in DIII. While happy with the victory, the team recognizes that there is a lot of improvement that will be necessary to ensure its stay in the higher league will last longer than this season.
"We simply can't rely on enthusiasm and hope that we put more effort than the other team," said the coach. "We have to get better and match the talent level of our opponents to have a fighting chance of avoiding relegation. Fortunately, this is a young team with a lot of room to improve and I expect us to get better as the season wears on."
The point differential is not pretty and the opponents are fierce, but look for the Cross Chargers to give the rest of DIII.9 fits this season, even if the wins are few and far between.
