So, I've played a season where most of the teams in my conference just happened to have rosters with around the same salary.

It was very competetive and fun. Most of the games were very close. Around 7 of my loses were in one possesion or in OT. Even MVP voting was close for 3 candidates. Easily the most competetive season.

And in relegation games there was a usual bb experience where dude just bought 35 y.o.+ trash which put him at 600k+ salary and he proceeded to easily win as expected.

All of that makes me wonder. Why is there no salary cap?

To me, right now, this game is not about skill. It's about saving money for 2-3 realtime years. Which I've understood in a first 2 seasons, but the idea of salary cap never crossed my mind.

GDP and Overextension Tax on the same season. Probably the best update to this day.

I think that adding salary cap while restrictive will be benefitial to creativity and fun. Cause you will have to actually construct competetive rosters on a budget, and develop your players, so you can get a better team come playoffs. You'll have to scout your opponents, prepare for games, cause most of them will be competetive.

And rich team will still be able to spend their dollars on staff and scounting to get advantage that way.

I also don't want nothing ridiculosly low as cap. Just one that prevents extremes. Like having 550k roster in a league 3, for example. I think that's too much.

1. You fill the excel spreadsheet and build some graph and dependencies, to figure it out. It's a basic game design task. It will likely have to be based on income per league.
2. You will have to gut your roster just like I will next season. Or pay the extra tax, like in the NBA with it's aprons.

Solutions exist. To me question is "Will the game be better with salary cap?"

I don't expect a lot of people say yes, cause it benefits new teams more than it does old. But to me going 22-0 just because you can afford it is not very rewarding.

Well, currently, nothing is stopping you from doing so. Save some money and crush your league if that's your dream.
