Trying to figure out what it mean that building a gym gives you an extra cross training slot. Does it now allow me to have extra position for training like pg/sg and extra sf which allow same training speed as pg/sg?

so cross training slots is just one random skills that could be improve and adding gym will increase an extra skill that can be improve. is building a gym worth it if the skill increase is random?

I think its really necessary to get the infrastructure for anybody interested in training up players, not only high end NT players.
