HGL-PL (HGL-Promotion/Participation League) info for Season 6 of HGL:
On HGL Season 6, we will play a HGL-PL "short league", for teams that:
A) are not currently playing in HGL, but would wish to do so on either HGL Season 7 or 8 (played during BB seasons 74 and 75), and
B) are willing to remain completely homegrown teams throughout the whole duration of HGL-PL (see *1 below), and
C) are willing to organize HGL-PL Pickup (PU) matches based on official schedule that HGL will provide. This does require usage of tokens, and basic understanding on how this PU match process works. It will also require communication with HGL Commissioner (myself), to get possible problems sorted out quickly.
*1= on this Season 6 you are able to trade after HGL-PL has ended completely, as long as your team becomes HGL eligible before you might start in HGL (after possibly receiving invitation based on your success in HGL-PL).
This is due to the current facts:
- it's unsure if there's a place to HGL Season 6 available through this Seasons' HGL-PL, so it's probably decent to let managers become non-HG while waiting (especially worst teams of HGL-PL likely not receiving invitation for HGL for the next Season).
- we are still somewhat undecided on whether this HGL-PL ranking will also be used to determine which teams are being offered a place in HGL for Season 8 as well (in the case if managers would withdraw from the HGL voluntarily, or if HGL will adopt a relegation/promotion scenario; voting about that is under way), if no new teams announce their interest to participate to Season 8 after this Seasons' HGL-PL has started; or whether result of this first HGL-PL should be used only for ranking teams in an order in which they would be offered a place to HGL should some managers withdraw their participation commitment for Season 7.
Please also note:
A) you should only participate to HGL-PL, if you are actually intending to accept place in HGL for either Season 7 (in the first place) or on Season 8; it's not meant to be just 'a league to play few fun PU games without any purpose', and
B) it is not guaranteed, that this result would be used on next Season (8) selection/offering process, so if you're extremely low on tokens, you might want to consider if it's worth participating now.
Having said that, I want to emphasize, that teams are offered a place in HGL based on success of most recent HGL-PL.
Please take that into consideration.
Let me give you an example:
We'll play HGL-PL now on Season 6.
Result of it is guaranteed to be used at least for Season 7 replacement processes (team withdrawals with short notice but only before Season 7 starts).
It might also be used for Season 8's similar process; depends if there are new interested teams or not.
Let's take example teams that have and have not participated to this HGL-PL.
Imaginary teams that have participated to HGL-PL, and results:
Winner of HGL-PL: Team A $400K
2nd: Team B $460K
3rd: Team C $80K
4th: Team D $120K
Imaginary teams that have not participated to HGL-PL, but would theoretically be interested in HGL Season 7:
Most expensive top8-salary, Team E $800K
2nd most expensive top8-salary, Team F $600K.
Now to get to the point in this example, remember, that teams are offered "a cancellation/withdrawal" places to HGL based on success in most recent HGL-PL being played.
Therefore, if for example 3 teams would be for any reason withdrawing (or making an action causing a penalty that would make their team HGL-ineligible for the next Season), teams would be offered a place in order of A, B and then C.
Note, that teams having not participated to HGL-PL, with salaries of $800K and $600K, would be only 5th and 6th in order on this "invitation list" as they would have not participated to HGL-PL at all in that occasion.
I hope this explanation and example clears the idea behind HGL-PL.
