Israel easily beat us tonight (97-64): (82360)

The offensive strategy may not have been optimal and the Israeli defense was exceptional.
Our shooting accuracy was poor throughout the game (25.6%).

Muileki Simelaine's injury after only 8 minutes didn't help either.

No surprise. This 1st round of the World Championship is very difficult.
We continue to gain experience and generate enthusiasm, with hope for better days ahead.

MOTM: Anuiyelewa Nthite, who scored 18 points (8/16).

Next game against the Philippines, ranked 18th in the world.

We lost by a narrow margin tonight against the Philippines, 98-103: (82365)

The difference can be partly explained by the number of free throws. Our opponents got 11 more than us, with a high success rate (31-34).
Our guards were pretty good on defense, but struggled more on offense. It was the opposite for the SF position.
The RnG tactic didn't allow our inside players to compensate, but that was a deliberate choice.
Maybe I should have put more into this game, but that's always easier to say at the end of the game.
To be honest, I decided to maximize enthusiasm for the 2nd round, where we may have a chance to win a game or two.

MOTM: Anuiyelewa Nthite, who scored 34 points, shooting 12-22, including 6-10 from long range, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.

The last opponent in this 1st round will be Estonia, ranked 10th in the world.

Estonia won 121-93 in this final game of the 1st round: (82369)

Not much to say, except that competing with the top teams is beyond our reach right now.

We have some very interesting players, but they are few and still a long way from the world elite.

There's still work to be done. I haven't lost hope that one day we will get closer.

MOTM: Vadiveloo Moshoeli with 27 points (12-28) and 6 rebounds.

The schedule for the 2nd round will be published shortly.

Last week, the USA beat us 64-85: (82406)
Their 1-3-1 zone defense allowed us to dominate on the boards (61-47) but stifled our offense (24-89, .270).
MOTM: Anuiyelewa Nthite, who scored 17 points (7-12) and grabbed 7 rebounds.

On Monday, we beat Morocco 102-92: (82409)

This is our 1st W of the tournament.
Morocco put more into the game but Moyo Mosili was on fire.
The offensive choice (inside isolation) allowed him to have an exceptional game.
He scored 62 points (22-43), the 5th best performance in the history of the NT.
Our big men locked down the paint and racked up rebounds:
Maree (5 blocks and 11 rebounds) and Moloto (3 blocks and 11 rebounds).

We will face Chile next Monday.

Glad to see that we got our first win of the season. Mosili was on fire with an efficient 62 points. Glad that the perimeter defense rebounding, and help defense complemented him while he took over the scoring role for that night.

Great read with the strategies and winning with less enthusiasm put into the match.

The World Championships ended tonight with a 64-99 loss to China: (82416)

Once again, the opposing offense overwhelmed our defense: 42-90 from the field and 24 assists. We were also dominated on the boards. Unfortunately, we are still far from the top teams in the world.

MOTM: Vadiveloo Moshoeli with 25 points (8-14), 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.

While waiting for the next season, some friendly games are on the schedule.
We started tonight with a 131-122 W over Saudi Arabia: (82791)

It was a very offensive game with both teams adopting a fast-paced tactic.
The R&G offense paid off with a high number of 3-pointers (15-33) and assists (32).

MOTM: Stan Watkins, who scored 22 points (10-17) in 22 minutes, coming off the bench.
The game took place in his club's arena which he knows like the back of his hand!

On Monday, Muileki Simelaine, the team captain and one of the best players of all time for the South African national team, will bid farewell.

To celebrate his career, a scrimmage against Denmark will be played at his club's arena in Taiwan.

He holds the record for the most rebounds in the national team (1,601) and is also the 10th highest scorer of all time (2,163 points).

Every Friday, he was in great shape and ready for action. He was undoubtedly the backbone of the team!

Since his 1st selection in season 60, he has participated in every adventure and will honor his 148th selection.

A huge thank you to his manager Moonlight, who has trained him so well and kept him in shape for many seasons!
