Second Round of HGL-PL is just behind the corner.

While we're in an awkward situation (of not being able to yet create "reliable" league tables - hence the decision to not yet create them at all), due to not knowing if Tassie Devils (TD) will be disqualified or not; we'll be wiser about that in 36 hours or so at the very latest), First Round of HGL-PL provided some very interesting moments.

Whether or not TD will be disqualified or not, San Fernando VR (SAN) was able to cruise to an impressive 101-72 victory against Tassie Devils (TD), which you can see from this HGL-PL schedule/results-post: (331392.21). TD had quite a lot higher top8-salaries ($174K vs. $111K), so that makes the victory even more impressive.

Nailbiter match of the Round One though was M.L.S. REICH - borteam (MLS-BOR).
And again, an underdog (BOR) was able to outperform their more expensive competition ($108K vs $157K), but only by 4 points. (Free nitro's provided by HGL to all participants and spectators).

So two of the lowest ranked top8-salary teams are at the top of the league table after Round one, and Second Round is providing interesting math(es):
#TD-BOR (139757790) *
#MLS-SAN (139721683)
*=result pending (possible TD forfeit)

While every match is so importanst here, especially for MLS it will be an important afternoon as they lost on Round One and now face so far undefeated SAN.
MLS is $46K ahead in top8-salaries, but like we saw on Round One, nothing is set in stone before match is finished... :)

Very interesting results.

@ Wagner...no contact from Taz Devil.

TD has not contacted me either. despite being logged in on 24th again.

He lost in HGL-PL again though, despite having "an expensive" roster - but having his most expensive player coming in as a sub didn't help this time. He's 0-2 currently, so against all odds, he wouldn't be at the top of the pack anyway after Sunday's games will be played.

*********

@Tassie Devils: You have only about 12 hours to create a box score post for your HGL-PL. If you do not do that, like you have been informed already, your team will be disqualified from HGL-PL and all your Season 5 scores will be turned into a 0-50 forfeit losses.

**********

As for other match yesterday, the excitement-factor definitely is present - just when I mentioned MLS needs a victory, they did manage to find one on overtime (against SAN). What a drama...

On last Round Three tomorrow borteam (BOR), currently at 2-0, has a chance to secure their place to HGL Season 6 by winning San Fernando VR (SAN). But it won't be an easy task - it should once again be quite even and interesting match!

@all HGL-PL managers:
Note that same system of rating teams after "Regular Season" (yes, this is RS also in HGL-PL, albeit a short one!) is used than is being used in HGL. You can find more information and additional link from HGL's league table posts.

As mentioned on next post, correct match link for TD-MLS for tomorrow's HGL-PL Round is not available (wrong match is number 139778026). The one available in M.L.S. REICH box score post is played 2 hours too late. MLS and TD have been contacted about this.

HGL-PL post,
@M.L.S. REICH (and also partly to Tassie Devils):

Hi,
I'm contacting you again about your tomorrow's match vs Tassie Devils.

Has this already been organized?

Match link currently available in your box score post will not be accepted as result, it's played 2 hours too late.

Please send it ASAP.

Otherwise we might face problematic situation, in where you, who are responsible for sending match offer, has sent a wrong offer (if and as you have sent an offer, which you are officially responsible of doing at least).

If TD will be disqualified from HGL-PL, you might be "saved by the bell", but otherwise we'd be in an awkward situation.

So please report to me what's the current situation.

HGL-PL post,
@all HGL-PL managers, and especially
@ TazDevil/Tassie Devils:

Due to not communicating when requested, and especially due to not creating HGL-PL box score post regardless of multiple requests to act and reply to my BBMails and forum posts, and regardless of multiple logins by you during that process,
I have no option than to disqualify your team Tassie Devils from Season 5 HGL-PL.

This will turn all your match results as 0-50 forfeit losses, and leave you last in HGL-PL standings.

We simply can't have managers in HGL or HGL-PL, that refuse to correct issues or communicate, if they're temporarily unable to solve them. It's an all-manual league, which simply suffers too much from such acts (or a lack thereof). We all need to "pull the same string" to get things happen, and lack of communication also doesn't really have "respect" writtten on it either (at least how I see it).

This is especially frustrating, as you were kind of hanging in there, and also now Sunday's Round Three match is organized at proper time. But lack of serious attempt to solve the box score post-issue (none of us have any idea what part of it you found impossible, so we were unable to help, other than with quite detailed instructions, such as this: (331392.175), and providing you almost ready box score posting for copy-pasting) and letting us/me know what is the problem is the dealbreaker here.

While I feel sorry for how it went, on that part it was "my fault" that in hindsight I probably tried to remedy the situation too long, despite you replying to me before that you would find it better that you'd be left out because you can't seem to be able to solve the box score post-issue (creating your box score post, I assume, as that's the only thing not currently done).
I thought we can get this sorted out after generous extra time given to solve it, because I know from experience how easy it can be once you get a grasp of it, but I had no luck with it this time. Other than not being specific enough in your communication (so that we could solve your issues), I have no intention to say bad words on you here - you instead seemed like a nice fellow. It's just that sometimes I put quite a lot of hours into HGL, and personally I definitely prefer that communication will be maintained at least to an extent necessary (to get HGL-related things sorted out), as failing in that often causes extra work to myself and awkward situation also to other participants of HGL and/or HGL-PL.

So I'm sorry, other HGL-PL managers, for having to wait for this long (due to myself being on the lenient side this time), but at least now you know all games against Tassie Devils (TD) will be forfeit wins for your team on Season 5.

HGL-PL post:

Now that Tassie Devils (TD) has been disqualified from HGL-PL, it was meaningful to update league table as well.

You can see it here (331392.21), but please note that I've done it so that MLS already have 3 played matches, just as TD (because game is already forfeited).

Round Three is still being played, but practically (unless someone spots an error in my logic/thinking), everything is still open for grabs (in terms of league table positions).

This meaning that if BOR would lose their last match, they end up in 2 wins, just like MLS, and also then SAN.

So SAN, winning their last match against BOR, could reach 2 wins situation.

This would bring us to a rare three way-tie situation, in where none of teams could be lifted up or dropped down from comparison group due to winning or losing against all "comparison group teams" during Regular Season, and in such situation tie would be solved like this; see the "rule compilation", from 1. to 4.: (328546.121).

But, if SAN would beat BOR by 4 points exactly, then we'd be in a ridiculous 2W-1L and +50 three way-tie... Frankly, I hope we don't have to get that mathematical here.
However, these 3 posts (this first one and 2 that follow it) summarize the whole comparison process (here: (328546.113), should it not be possible to solve with methods in first link.

But if for some unbelievable reason all points allowed, scored etc. should be tied (very, very unlikely) then I don't know it'd be better to give preference to team that has announced their interest earlier, or to a team with higher top8-salaries when starting HGL-PL on that Season. If I'd have to answer now (and I kind of have to, as it's played already tomorrow), I'd for now answer giving the preference for higher top8-salary team.

@Spela/Hårdboll:

I will send you same message here on this HGL Thread, as I sent you by BBMail. Of course, as you know, many other BBMails have been sent to you about it earlier, without no response (after this response from you, which I did not understand completely with 100% clarity).

[...]

Like I said to you, I did NOT completely, with 100% clarity, understood what you meant. Do you:
1. Want to continue in HGL for Season 6, or
2. Do NOT want to continue in HGL for Season 6.

If I would have to choose, I understood you do NOT want to continue.
Based on what you wrote, and also based on that you don't communicate with me or with any of us (on HGL forums) anymore.

But please confirm to me which one is the case for you; yes or no, to your continuing in HGL?

I will still give you little bit more than a week to respond to this message.

Unless I hear from you at the end of the next week, by 26th of July 2026 at 23.59 Swedish time (July 27th 00.59 EET DST) at the latest, I have no other options than to drop your team out of HGL for Season 6.

You can always apply to HGL again, by participating to HGL-PL (and get back to HGL by being successful in it, if there are open places in HGL for next Season).

But please don't exit HGL by not saying anything.

@Hårdboll/Spela, and
@ also all HGL managers:

Spela did not contact me in time, despite being logged in for instance on 23rd of July, so I have no choice but to dismiss Hårdboll from HGL Season 6.

Wow. These are interesting times...

You could say so. Unfortunately not "interesting" in a good way.
Hårdboll (Spela) had been given already "too much" time to respond something, anything at all (in addition to what I, with somewhat good certainty, interpreted as not being willing to continue, by BBMail) about his willingness to continue in HGL or not.
Note, that I sent him several BBMails after his initial "kind of withdrawal notice" - like I said, I didn't erase his Season 6 participation immediately, as I wasn't 100% sure what he meant with his BBMail (and this was an important decision, in where I definitely don't want to do mistake).

It's very unfortunate (even lame), that people exit HGL without saying much, or anything at all. But it's something I have only so much control over.

Like I mentioned earlier, as far as my memory serves me, there has been only one Season, where all teams have continued to next HGL Season, so in that sense, this is always something to be possibly expected, I'm afraid, whether we (and I) like it or not.

HGL-PL post:

We have now wrapped up first ever HGL-PL, that was completed during HGL Season 5.

We faced situation that I don't think we've ever faced in HGL - a three way tie in points (in wins, as well), in where none of three teams were able to win or lose all matches against the "comparison group" (meaning teams with same points, in this case also with same wins).

Therefore, as none of them were raised up or dropped down from company of three (in order to be able to apply "the winner of Regular Season match will be the better positioned team"-rule for two teams), then we're going to have to next compare Regular Season point difference, RS PD (as mentioned in my previously liinked "Rule Compilation", for tie-breaker situations) that is shown as +/- in HGL-PL league table.

Unless I have done some serious mistake in my thinking/calculations, we have reached final standings, Official Regular Season Rankings (ORSR) of HGL-PL on Season 5. You can see them here: (331392.21).

I don't mind at all, if some of you HGL managers check out my logic&calculations (as like I mentioned, we've never faced such situation before), but they should be correct.

This is where things got interesting. What did I mean by this? Many things (team positions) were still open before RS Round Three yesterday.
It all boiled down to BOR-SAN match. If I didn't calculate it wrong, BOR (borteam) could've afforded to lose by 1, 2 or 3 points, and still be on top of a HGL-PL league table (as with 3 point loss their RS PD would´ve been +51, MLS's +50 and SAN's +49 points), meaning that this would've been the order of teams in final standings, of which 2 best teams would've qualified to HGL.
With SAN's 4 point win we would've been in a 3-way tie with all 3 teams at +50 points (in which another set of comparisons, "virtual table" with allowed and scored points and so on, would step into a picture).

But now that SAN was able to win BOR by more than 4 points, it took SAN as number one of HGL-PL, and dropped BOR 3rd in final ORSR rankings - bit of a drama, I'd say!

San Fernando VR (SAN; manager VR75) and M.L.S. REICH (MLS; manager impero) have already been sent an invitation to HGL Season 6, and both have already confirmed they are ready and willing to participate.
