As usual, the World Cup is very complicated for our national team.

My motivation for writing summaries is obviously less. Sorry.

After many defeats, we finally won our 1st game last night against Mexico 103-84: (85028)

For once this season, we performed on both sides of the court.

MOTM: Stan Watkins was the top scorer with 32 points (12-19, including 4-8 from long range).

Special mention to our captain of the defense, Motlatsi Maree, who reigned in the paint with 13 rebounds, 7 blocks and 3 steals.

The competition will end next Monday with a game against Chile #9.

This 2nd consecutive win allows us to finish 14th out of 16 in the final standings.

Season 73 - Africa Cup.

Please excuse me for not getting in touch. I've been very busy lately.

This season, the Africa Cup is held in Nigeria.

As in recent seasons, 3 teams seem to stand out: Egypt (the defending champion), Morocco and South Africa.
We'll also need to keep an eye on Nigeria, which is hosting the tournament.

5 matches have already been played. Here's a quick summary of the ongoing competition.

After a difficult start marked by 2 losses, we've just strung together 3 wins, the most recent of which was against Egypt, which had remained undefeated after 4 games.

Game 1: Loss to Morocco, 127-139 (85818).
Pure offense. Both teams shot incredibly well, with field goal percentages above 50%. A score worthy of an All-Star Game.
MOTM: Nkosi Matjekane was on fire, setting his new NT record with 38 points (15-27) while also dishing out 6 assists.

Game 2: Loss to Nigeria, 93-102 (85825).
Home-court advantage and a higher attitude allowed the Nigerians to make the difference.
MOTM: Moyo Mosili was everywhere with 22 points (8-13), 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

Game 3: Win over Ghana, 114-76 (85827).
Little suspense despite the superior attitude of the opponent.
Access to the paint is prohibited (66 rebounds and 16 blocks).
MOTM : Moshoeshoe Ramasodi nearly recorded a triple-double with 14 points, 10 assists and… 9 rebounds.
Special mention goes to our big men, who racked up blocks and grabbed all the rebounds: Motlatsi Maree (7 blocks and 17 rebounds) and Leabua Moloto (6 blocks and 14 rebounds).

Game 4: Win over Algeria, 106-97 (85830).
An excellent 1st quarter gave the team a 14-point lead and we controlled the rest of the game pretty well.
MOTM: Moyo Mosili, in iso mode, finished the game with 31 points and 6 assists.

Game 5: Win over Egypt, 86-68 (85836).
Credit goes to the defense, which held the Egyptians to 68 points on a meager 24% shooting percentage, despite their strong dominance on the boards.
MOTM: Moyo Mosili once again led the offense with 36 points (13-28).
Our defense captain Motlatsi Maree also dominated the paint with 16 rebounds and 5 blocks.

Standings after 5 games:

1- Egypt 4W-1L
2- Morocco 4W-1L
3- Nigeria 4W-1L
4- South Africa 3W-2L
5- Senegal 2W-3L
6- Tunisia 2W-3L
7- Algeria 1W-4L
8- Ghana 0W-5L

We'll wrap up this 1st round by facing Tunisia and Senegal.

Glad to see the defense and boards along with Marlee’s paint protection. We got a good squad, I’m excited to see how far we go.

Henk Apotheker, 23-yo MVP, TSP 120, currently on sale: (54851586).

He has a good chance of being called up to the NT in a few years, if he is well trained.
If someone is interested, you should mainly improve OD, JS, IS, and PA.
The sale price seems fair to me.

Game 6: Win over Tunisia, 106-81 (85840).

A game we dominated from start to finish.
MOTM: Moyo Mosili finished the game with 25 points (8-18) and 4 assists.
Special mention goes to Motlatsi Maree, who grabbed 20 rebounds.
Thanks to Nigeria's loss to Algeria, we've moved back up to 3rd place in the standings.
Our final game of the 1st round will pit us against Senegal.
