Hi Bill, I sent you an invite just so we get to scrimmage mate. Not a rematch. We have emptied out roster out of u21s and put future players on there, so our enthusiasm is back to 1. Thanks for accepting

The Season 71 "washed up" Wash up

MVP count
Polentes- 1, 3, 1, 3, 1, 1, 1= 11 votes
Youren- 1, 2, 3, 3, 2= 11 votes
Curtis- 3, 2, 2, 3= 10 votes
Scannell- 3, 2, 2= 7 votes
Ruxton- 2, 3= 5 votes
Goulding- 1, 1, 2= 4 votes
Harrington-2, 1 = 3 votes
Biggs- 3= 3 votes

We have a tie! Congratulations to both Leeroy of Wuhan Wastrels, and K-romp of Cove Convicts for the MVP of the u21s this season. I do not keep tally of season totals throughout the season, so it is always exciting to see how close the final result can be. I had the runner up MVP, from the Redbacks farm, 1pt behind on 10pts.

We will dedicate our remainder of season to u20 players in scrimmages and try to encourage skill development to piece together a decent side for next seasons Asian tournament. As always we have some decent 20yr olds coming through but depth is an issue, particularly in the PG role so i will be encouraging some training to cover that area.

Well done to all coaches/managers who trained throughout this season. Our gameshape definitely let us down in the second half of the season and even though we only lost 3 matches for the season, we could definitely have progressed to the second round of finals and had one more game if we had pushed for a higher rank during the season.

Have a great Easter everyone!

Thanks WW, bit of a mixed bag this season.

How many MVP's does K-romp have now? Seems like he's getting them all the time lol.

I just looked through the MVP records on the u21 main page- this is Cove Convicts 8th MVP.

His first MVP was my first season of coaching (season 28), Thomas Perera. He was a gun PG.

His first 5 were all from the same PG type training which he had the training nailed for us. There were many more of his trainees obviously that played significant roles for our nation without winning MVPs, most notably in season 41, our World cup 3rd place, Jimmie Waterworth.

More recently, he has turned his hand to training bigs for us. I do give him credit for a lot of our successes over those years, that type of player is something we have been lacking over the past 8-10 seasons. I'm not sure why that sort of player isn't being trained commonly by Australian managers. Passing seems to be abandoned on a lot of our trainees these days.

We have many more very loyal Australian managers that have contributed significantly over the last 43 seasons. We have some amazing local managers. Hopefully we can pull something special out in the next couple of seasons. What I know is that Cove Convicts will keep producing talent and doing what he can. I will keep training and keep producing a player most seasons from the Redbacks. But we need more than that, we need more managers producing more depth if we are to rise the ranks.

We were down to 1 enthusiasm from scouting, but got some of the new talent a run which was the purpose. Next week I'll target a larger nations that might want to give their 20yr old a run so we can gain some info from the run.

This is a squad only at the moment, a final team won't be selected until next season right before our first game. But the selections give you a good indication of who is currently in front for selection and is in good game shape. Pops from week to week could shift these lineups

It's difficult to remember how they started! I see so many pops each week... but id say fairly similar strength wise this season to the next. I can give you specifics, but might not share that on here given other overseas managers might get some great info if I do!
