Thanks, MrJ!
I'm kind of a visual person myself to some extent, so sometimes at least for me it's easier to interpret something more visual, hence the attempt to make some "graphics" in BB text editor.

Yes, well, kecal's $430k roster is punishing my team currently...

...as expected :`(

That's very visual! lol

Maybe I should've used $-signs instead of - though xD
But hey, it's my first attempt so maybe we'll get there, and can improve on next one.

The difference (140 to 430K) is big, so yes, to some extent that's to be expected.. but your team has developed a lot (and will keep on doing so, I have no doubt about that), so I think you won't be leaving Season 4 without wins, and being an experienced manager yourself, could also very well surprise someone with clearly higher salaries.

Personally I'm having a surprise lead (by 13) against HGL top8-salary #2, LMS at half time, but maybe BB Gods will turn against me now that I mentioned about it - does knocking wood at this point help anymore, or has the damage been done already? ;P

I think this season might become quite interesting based on some stats that I calculated (will be published by Wagner later). I asked myself, who would be able to put up with Virtus Portici, who have now won back-to-back championships, especially now that Svätý Jur Snakers are not participating in the coming season. While the reigning champions’ top-8 salary decreased by 30K$, they are still the third in the top salary table and have a very balanced distribution of the team. Over the couple of last seasons Rajdersi and KK Stihija were the teams that had rivaled the undisputed top-2 teams of the league, but now it might get even more interesting.
[..]

Thank you LennuK. also for your Season 4 preview (in addition to the aforementioned salary and age statistics)!

While Svätý Jur Snakers' high top8-salaries (845K on Season 3; not participating on Season 4) does lower the HGL top8-average salary effectively (as it's way more than average salary of a HGL team), the average top8-salary level seems to rise every season, which to me makes HGL highly competitive and interesting.

I haven't calculated Season 3 and Season 4 teams' top8-average salaries though, in order to being able to give you values on how it has developed. On the other hand, couple of things affect this salary development:

- some teams (especially FRE) have sold players, that they could have theoretically keep, so these kind of effectively reduce "HGL average top8-salary", and are not a sign of bad training but instead a result of managers' own choice (to get rid of salary baggage by either tactical or forced selling/firing)

- we have different number of participating teams this season, so comparing "team salary layers" (explained just below) is not as straightforward, and

- also as new teams have been introduced that are on the lower salary spectrum of HGL so that lowers average HGL top8-salaries (while again not implying that managers would have done bad job in training, as their numbers weren't even included in the previous season top8-numbers)

Salary comparison tables (should they be made season by season) could also be "chopped to parts" in addition to providing a whole HGL's top8-salary value.
We could provide average top8-salaries for instance for
-top4,
-top 5-8,
-top 9-12,
- and top 13-16
- (and top 17-18, if there are more than 16 teams).

This would give all of us an idea, what's your teams' distance to the next level (consisting of 4 teams here in this example). Of course this salary table that has already provided gives an idea about it, but this is just a possibility/thought.

Good luck in the 2nd half, Wagner.

BTW...the X-Man will be returning to my roster in the next few days if negotiations are successful! B)
:D

Thanks - I'll be needing it, it´s a draw with 7 minutes to go.

I suppose you refer to one of your own draftees - please let us know who you bought should that deal be done, so I can update it in a transfers-post (and change your team salaries).

EDIT: My lead 13 at halftime, draw at 7 minutes on a game clock, and finally a 15 point defeat - talking about turnaround/collapse... An offensive rebound by LMS's Jaunkamps 66 seconds left on a game clock (3 point game at that point) and directly after that giving an assist to 3P FG finally started to break the camel's back.
PS. Coach was once again being quite humorous with timeout usage. I was left with 2 timeouts at the end of game, and from 3 remaining at that point he took a full timeout at 2 seconds remaining, being down 15. Peculiar decision, one could say.

You don't need to ask, Wagner (y)

I was just trying to get you to accidentally reveal X-man's name... xD

Lol

I can tell you that he is one of two long lost sons we wish to have back at the club. I have been bugging the two Aussie owners of these players for a few seasons now. Finally, I have had a breakthrough with one of these players and am excited at the possibility of having him return by the end of the week B)

I see. He's going to provide nice added skill to your team, and after that, I bet you surely wouldn't be looking at winless season.

As for me, I'm running out of ideas/options in terms of reaching my 100 own draftees in a team-goal, as I'm on a verge of bankruptcy.
So unless someone provides me a new idea how to keep on this train going until next draft deadline, some radical changes need to be made.
Starting situation is that I´m at -540K now, and heading towards minus at a rate of -100K/week.
So it'll be soon necessary to call "mayday, mayday", unless something comes up that'll save me (from discarding loads of players).

EDIT: I have some (not actually even too many) facilities to sell if absolutely necessary, but it's -50% that you lose when you sell them so I've avoided it so far, and also wanted to save those as a last resort option (to prevent all players getting listed, if I'd forget to deal with this situation in time). However, I still can't recall exactly how the bankruptcy situation is handled, especially that does the two week "bankruptcy timer" start only from the time when official BBmail has been sent to warn of you potential bankruptcy danger (or do they still send it nowadays?) and not a moment before that BBMail(?)...

I think you will have to choose between your dream of having 100 players, and your buildings. (I've sold some of my buildings a few times already, that is not a big deal.)

What is unclear to me, what will you do after reaching the 100 players limit? Will you try to keep it all the time? Eventually, it will impact your ability to play BZB by severely limiting financial options. (As it is already doing.)

Maybe so. However, when I now try to do the math, if I have 750K worth to sell and I'm at -540K already, that would only bring me to +210K, which would then be taken down with a rate of, say, -80-120K/week (so let's use average 100K here), which would only take 7 weeks to be back at -500K mark with no buildings left to sell. That's also something that I try to have as a last backup option.

So this is why I'm also looking for another options, as unless I'm mistaken in my thinking (which could be the case), I wouldn't survive even at the end of this season (as I suppose there's still 12-13 weeks of economical updates/salary paying weeks left on this season 71, right?) even if I'd sell all buildings.

Normally selling buildings wouldn't be that much of a big deal, but if you're not building big positive income per week (if for example +10 or +20K/week), then it takes ages to get back those buildings (which are also quite important for HG team).

It is also unclear to me whether or not I'd keep at that 100'ish/100+ level if I'd reach it - optimally yes, if it would be economically possible. But in reality, I'd likely have to start reducing the amount to some extent, while still retaining some of my "player keeping principles" (so don't expect to see "totally normal sized" roster on my team in the near future, or likely ever).

It has already impacted many things in my BB, such as:
A) not being able to acquire good drafting places on any season (in recent years) due to having to prioritize avoiding relegation > I don't think I could've survived even one season on lower league level
B) having to prioritize winning in league games over maximal training (same reason), and train older players unoptimally long
C) economics of my team have suffered big time, I haven't been able to buy all buildings that likely many long term players have bought
D) occassionally, such as now, when you're at minus dollars, you can't make decent/sensible changes, such as buy PR/Coach/doctor with more reasonable salary - your only option is to fire, and then you get level 1 worker which is dreadful for HG team (success wise and potentially economically wise, as we still need to remember that even if I'd fire 20+ players, I still wouldn´t likely survive in lower division, so I have to keep on prioritizing winning on certain league games over training optimally).
E) I just replied quickly, so I probably forgot something essential from the list

So yes, downsides there definitely are. On the other hand, if you're HG team, cash is sometimes not as important for you as it is for a trading team (well, HG teams may trade too, but you got my point), so from that standpoint it hasn't been as dreadful tactical choice economically as it sounds (as I do not plan to become a non-HG team).

So thank you for your reply kecal, I'm glad you wanted to take time to reply... Also, if anyone else has thoughts/ways or ideas on how to be able to fulfill this longtime goal of 100 own draftees (without going to bankruptcy or compromising roster by selling my most expensive players), I'd happily hear them!
