League tables updated now after 2 Rounds of play.

@all managers:
Please remember: next two weeks are played at 3 matches per week-pace (Mon, Fri, Sun) so remember to set your lineups/strategies on time!

(As usual, it's wise to have an automatic lineup set for all matches, as this should ensure you won't face a situation with too little amount of players listed on your lineup, which would lead to penalties on HGL Season 4).

Round 2 offered bit of everything in terms of results - a nailbiter (3 points win), then from decent/biggish point difference (10-22p) victories in five cases, and three blowout victories of 29 points or more.

Pretty interesting matchup on schedule on Round 3 (tomorrow) coming up - any thoughts on these, anyone? :)

- some teams (especially FRE) have sold players, that they could have theoretically keep, so these kind of effectively reduce "HGL average top8-salary", and are not a sign of bad training but instead a result of managers' own choice (to get rid of salary baggage by either tactical or forced selling/firing)

My problem is that I've never played with the idea to lose a match intentionally and this is not the best strategy to have a good draft; my team is very weak but in the last 6 seasons I've played playoffs; when you've an unbalanced team and no strong young players it could be an idea to sell players over 28yo in order to try to be less competitive = having better draft. It works cause at the moment I'm in first position in my league... :p

It's great "principle" to not lose games on purpose, so hat's off for that... Even though if one trains players, say, on 2 positions, and would be able to dress more high quality players (and win the match as a result), then someone could probably argue that they didn't do as much as they could to win the game, and in that sense someone could count that as a match that has been 'lost on purpose'. But we're probably all 'been there done that' anyway, due to how BB's training system is built.


Something to note especially for us HG teams though;
if you're not financially struggling and have to (or want to, for some reason) sell your best players, you don't have to do that, and can still keep them for certain matches (that you possibly want to win, or for HGL matches, etc.).

This way you don't have to wait for multiple seasons to be competitive again, but can adjust the level of your team for each match separately by deciding who you're going to dress for match that day. Of course, that comes with the price tag of player salaries (to players, that you possibly didn't even dress for a match), so it might require somewhat deep pockets.

And while it should be totally obvious, all that said before and in a previous message didn't try to imply you would've done something questionable, in the case you took it at all that way.

So I wonder if the deletion of LennuK.'s message was due to player being actively on sale, and would they get deleted if we announce them here after the transfer?

Yeah, it was because his player was on sale. I still felt like I had to say something...LennuK wasn't trying to advertise his player to any of us, but the MOD still had to do his job.

Yes, it was a good point you made and received +1 for that.
HGL isn't recognized as an official league in BB currently, so I guess they're not going to do exceptions with us.

But let's just publish transfers after they've happened, so this shouldn't become an issue again.

Marte's transfer was interesting, as he was bought by a team that's currently on third position in France Pro A league (!), while his potential was limited only to 5 - interesting to see what's to come.

As for Muir, I assumed he was being fired on January 4th, when I updated the transfer post.

It seems both of these players were outside of your top8-salary players, so getting rid of them doesn't affect your top8-salaries.

PS. As a lighter note, if we are discussing about trimming a fat, what would you reckon:
A) what's the total fat content (in kg) of my roster, 99 players in total, and
B) how much fat should I trim then?
I'll leave you to ponder these challenging questions.. xD
