CYBORGS BEGIN INTER-CONFERENCE PLAY WITH 115-91 VICTORY OVER AMPHI SUPER SONICS.

Steel City - After a disappointing loss to rivals TX Falcons in week 2, the Cyborgs have ripped off 6 straight wins including this weeks 115-91 victory over the Super Sonics. Center Wang Guifeng played his best game of the year just hours after getting the news he would be transferred to a div IV team. The Chinese center pulled down a career high 29 rebounds to go along with 18 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals. He also scored a career high rating with 7.0

Wang's statement through his translator: "I'm sad to go, I had good times here and learned a lot, Steel City was good to me and I will always remember that. It came down to business that I agreed to be transferred. There are lots of good centers here, there just was not enough minutes for all of us. Good luck to Cyborgs and thank you"

This week marked the beginning of inter-conference play in what figure to be a true test of where Steel City stands in league V.49.

"Really there are 4 teams we consider to be contenders besides ourselves," said the Cyborg GM," and three of them reside in the Big Bad Blue conference (Big Eight)! We look forward to playing the Skunder Thunder, the BYU Cougars, and the Red Flags. Then we'll have a better idea of how we stacked up in this crazy league."

I'm going with the best record, the Red Flags are undefeated and have beat everyone in their division. Its up to the Cyborgs and the Falcons to represent the Red division!

CYBORGS COMPLETE BIG 8 SCHEDULE WITH 7-1 RECORD

Steel City - Not much was answered on the recent Big 8 swing that saw the Cyborgs win seven of eight games. The lone loss to the Red Flags went down to the wire as did wins vs BYU and Thunder Skunder. All three games were incredibly close with no team having a clear cut advantage. So after the swing we remain with the same question...where does Steel City rank with the top 5 teams? Its just too close to call.

"The playoffs are going to be fierce,"stated Cyborg GM Krazy Kay,"all five teams are right there and they are all going to fight it out. Its going to be great basketball, I cant wait for the playoffs.....You know the sad think is that at the end of the day more than one of us is going to be deserving of moving up to division IV, but only 1 will likely go. Its going to make for a long offseason for those that dont make it. I hope we can find a win it all and move up to Division IV."

CYBORGS HOST RIVAL TX FALCONS, LOOK TO AVENGE EARLIER LOSS!

Steel City - In what figures to be a Great 8 conference finals preview, the Steel City Cyborgs will do battle against the TX Falcons tonight. The Cyborgs lost their only conference game to their hated rivals in the season opener 58-53, but dont expect a repeat of that game.

Only one starter from that game will start in todays game for Steel City, SG Smits. A frontline of Wang (transfered), Ghee (cut), and Maniura (demoted to the bench) will be replaced by All Star and team captain Tinsley (8.1 rating), rookie phenom Oglesby (20pts, 21rbs, 8asts), and fast developing big man Chrzaścik (23 pts, 21 rbs in 3 games)

"This team we've put together would beat the crap out of the team we had opening night," said GM Krazy Kay,"its not even close. Now the question is, how much better did the Falcons get? I cant wait to see this game, rivalry week is the best week of every season. The Falcons are a class organization, its going to be a great game, a big game for both of us as we head into the playoffs. Nothing will be settled though, I expect to see them again in the playoffs!

AVENGED! CYBORGS TAKE DOWN FALCONS 106-81

Steel City-Despite a roster error by GM Krazy Kay (no back up big men) and starting Center Big C going down 16 minutes into the game, the Cyborgs still avenged their opening night loss 106-81. "I almost cost us the game!" snapped a disgruntled Krazy Kay.

Big C was off to a great start scoring 9 points along with 11 boards before leaving the game with a strained shoulder early in the second quarter. The 18 yr old was fouled hard trying to dunk the ball. Reports are that it'll be sore for a few days, but should be available for the the next game.

The coach had to scramble to fill the void with a limited roster. It became center by committee as 6 differrent players ended up playing time at center. 4 of them guards!

Team Captain Tinsley, who missed the season opener had a very efficient 25 point, 13 rebound game on 11-14 shooting. First round pick PF Oglesby had his worst offensive performance of his young career shooting 1-11 and finishing with just two points. He was still able to contribute however grabbing 17 boards and dishing out 8 assists.

Falcons 19 year old center Rodrigue Cliquet had a very nice night posting a career high rating of 9.0. He finished with 9 points anda team high 12 boards in only 20 minutes of play. This kid is loaded with potential and has really made strides the last few games.

PG Igor Bagration let out a huge sigh of relief after the game. "It's scary trying to play defense with those huge guys down low. I was just happy to escape with my body in one piece. I never play center again....EVER!," he mused.

The Cyborgs have a relatively light schedule the rest of the way. No remaing teams are over .500. Still the Cyborgs know they cant be complacent. Tinsley will make sure of that. "We have a lot of young players that still need to get better. They need to continue with our trainers and get ready for the playoffs."

I dont think we've saw the best Falcon team out there and there is plenty of time for them to get better and get ready for a rematch....in the playoffs!

CYBORGS SPEND RECORD 500K TO BRING IN PROSPECT MATTEO CARRUBBA

Steel City - The usually conservative Cyborgs, spend a record half a million dollars to bring in and unproven 18yr old seven footer this morning. The Power forward has played only two games this season.

Excerpt from the press conference:
Krazy Kay-"This was strictly a move for the future. We are always looking for players to improve the team short term and long term. Its highly unusual to bring this type of prospect at this time during the season, but we just didnt want to pass on this guy. We spent a lot more money, I mean A LOT more than we wanted to. We believe this guy will be a force down in the paint for years to come. In the meantime his outside skills are so good, he might get some minutes at one of the guard spots or at small forward. I predict that by the middle of next season, he will be our best player. He's got that kind of potential, and will do everything we can to help him fufil it."

STEEL CITY SETS RECORDS WITH WIN.

The Cyborgs won by 48 points yesterday setting a new record for largest margin of victory. They also broke the team record with 43 assists.

C Radion had his first career triple double (19pts, 20rbs, 11asts) while front court mate PF Chalkiopoulos just missed one posting 17pts, 14rbs, and 9 asts.

New comer, PG M. Brežgis had a solid debut in a surprise start. The 21yr old scored 22 points on 10-15 shooting and posting 9 assists. Allstar Van Marke looks to be the odd man out as he was not even on the active roster. "I dont get it," said Van Marke,"I make the allstar team then get benched? I'm not really happy with this, Maybe they need to transfer me."

GM Krazy Kay didnt seem too worried, " We actally have too many players right now honestly. But the beauty of it is we have great depth now at every position. I wont forget anytime soon how thin we were last year and how injuries really doomed us in the playoffs. We can absorb an injury or two as constructed right now. Since we are so close to the end of the season, We'll just suck it up and pay the extra money to keep everyone here. After that, players will get moved."

PG VAN MARKE DEMANDS TRADE, ACOSTA RELEASED

Steel City - Unhappy with being inactive last game, all star point guard Griffin Van Marke has officially demanded to be traded or released. The veteran was quite upset when we asked him how he was going to fit in the point guard rotation, "I'm a (bleep)ing allstar man, I should be starting and getting the bulk of the minutes. This 21 year old punk cant come in here and take my job like that man, that don't sit right with me. Kay (the GM) told me I wouldn't be starting anymore and that's straight bull(bleep). I gotta play man, I'm 30, I'm in the prime of my career, if these fools don't want me, I can go somewhere else and play"

Sources close to Krazy Kay tell us that he's actually been working the transfer market for over a week now in an attempt to move the disgruntled guard, but all efforts have been unsuccessful. Griffin is expected to be granted his release if a transfer cannot be worked out.

In related news, rookie center Daniel Acosta was released today. "He's a good kid, he can play in this league, but he got caught in a numbers game here. He'll catch on with another team and he'll be productive for that team. I wish him nothing but the best."-Cyborgs trainer The 18yr old Acosta played in 4 games, averaging 8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4 assists in 26 min per game.

NEW AQUISITION CARRUBBA HAS STRONG DEBUT

Steel City - Matteo Carruba made his debut with a bang today in front of a record 5,696 fans at the Thunderdome. The 18 year old scored 30 points, pulled down 14 boards, and dished out 6 assists helping the Cyborgs to improve to 19-2 on the season.

"I felt good out there." the youngster said,"I just let the game come to me". He flashed skills in many areas showing why the Cyborgs were willing to make such a huge investment.

GM Krazy Kay was gushing with excitment, "He's a 7 foot point guard who can bang in the post. This kid is going to be something special, He's going to be a star and one that can play multiple positions. That gives us great flexiblity besides a great player, I'm excited, I cant wait to see this kid get a few training seasons under his belt."

VAN MARKE RELEASED, MANURIA TRANSFERED

Steel City - All Star PG Griffin Van Marke was due to be suspened by the team today for conduct detriment to the team, but was instead released. "We tried to move him, but there just wasnt a market for him apparently," Said GM Krazy Kay,"At the end of the day we just needed to cut ties, it was becoming too much of a distraction."

In related news, the Cyborgs transfered SF Marcin Manuria for a small amount of cash. Our source says the move was strictly a cost cutting move in anticipation of higher player salaries next season. Marcin became expentable when Terressa and Deljkovic came aboard Both can play multiple positions including Mauira SF spot. Marcin had no hard feelings, "I had a great time here, was part of a great playoff run last year and now the Cyborgs have a great chance to promote this season. It would be great to be a part of it, but I also realize my minutes have disappeared and I became a casualty of business. I'll be fine though, I'll do the same for my new team, play hard all the time! I have to admit though, I'll be keeping an eye on the boxscores and rooting for the Cyborgs to promote."
