PLAYOFF RACE TAKING SHAPE

Blue conference:
1. Red Flags (16-1) They have the leagues best record and have finished the tough part of their schedule. They will have home court advantage throughout the playoffs. The class of season 13 and favorites to win it all.
2. Skunder Thunder (15-2) Are the only team to defeat the Red Flags, a great matchup should they meet in the finals.
3. BYU Cougars (13-4) Have played close games vs all the top teams, a definate threat to take down anybody.
4. Super Sonics (11-6) Have gone on a terrific 6 game run and won 8 of their last 9 games. No longer a team to overlook. It will be near impossible for them to make it out of this tough conference, but just securing a playoff spot is a huge step forward for this team. Turned a 7-15 team into a playoff team in one season!

Red Conference:
1. Steel Cyborgs (15-2) Lost in the conference finals last year, now look to take the next step and get to the league finals.
2. Falcons (11-6) Another team who took a major step forward, improving on a 8-14 record last year and securing the #2 seed in the Red Conference. They have played close games with the leagues top teams and wont go down without a fight.

Comment away fans and lets get ready for some fun playoff action!

BIG MOVES AS TRADE DEADLINE APPROACHES!

The competetion is fierce this season in division V.49 and it just got a whole lot tougher as several teams make big moves for the playoff run.

#1. The TX Falcons started the trade season filling their biggest need with SF Buda Hodos. This looks to be the best deal considering TX filled a huge need at a bargin price. The $374,000 transfer price was cheap for a 24 year old who's making over 9k in salary this season. Hodas, who averaged 18.3 pts and 7.3 rbs in Div IV, should make an immediate impact for the Falcons. This brings a whole new dimension to a possible Falcon/Cyborg playoffs.

#2. The Super Sonics made a bold move spending 750K to bring in some instant fire power. SG Dener jacui can score and dish just like his new backcourt mate Daniel Noel. Jacui averaged 18.3 points and 6.2 assists in divison IV. He's scheduled to make 11k this season. Noel leads the team in scoring with 20 points a game and 5.5 dimes. Together they may be the best back court in div V.49

#3. In a minor move, the Cyborgs brought in 21 year old PG Miervaldis Brežgis to bring some much needed youth to the PG spot. He's share time with Bagration and Van Marke, both of whom are over 30.

Stay tuned, more moves are sure to follow!

Red Flags to protect players going into the playoffs.

It appears that the Red Flags Organization has sucumb to the hype that their the favorites to win it all(Krazy kay Cyborgs GM),and has decided to sit its irreplaceble players down for the finl two game.Shooting guard Pedro Barrada,Center Rafa Galindo, and Power forward Filip Kielczykowski.Said Pedro Barrada"well i havent been playing very well in big games his season so i'll take it,plus the coach has plans of training Game Shape next week so this could work out very well OR the lack of in-game situations could realy hurt the guys so....its whatevs".In related news PG Raul albarren has expressed dissapointment that he Quote"isnt part of the IRREPLACEBLE guys on the team"and Quote.Even though he acknowldges that back-up Guard Evertt Finley is"Going to be a Great player in this League"

TRANSFER DEADLINE PASSES QUIETLY

Rosters are now set as the Transfer deadline came and went quietly. After a few moves early in tradetrade season, teams just couldnt seem to get deals done. One executive who wished to remain anonyomous said he was very close to a couple of deals, but the transfer prices got just a bit too expensive. "we thought we had a deal done more than once and literaly in the closing seconds, the deal fell through." said the executive.

The biggest splash was TX Falcons bringing in a stud small forward to help close the gap between themselves and the Steel City Cyborgs. Both are on a collision course to meet in the conference finals in what would break the 1-1 regular season tie with the victor getting the chance to play for the championship and promotion.

In the Blue Conference, its a much tougher battle with three teams having a strong chance to represent the Blue Conference in the finals. The Red Flags have a huge advantage with home court advantage and a much easier first round game. Power houses Thunder Skunder and Byu Cougars are going to beat each other up, then head to the Egalitarian Arena and the deal with the wild and crazy Red Flag crowd. If they survive that, then most likey face the Cyborgs or Falcons. There is no question the road is much tougher in the Blue Conference

Buckle up your seatbelts, grab your popcorn, the playoffs are here and these teams are ready to put on a show!

Gigszoo Predicts MVP

Red Flags GM Gigszoo has made a questionable PR choice by holding a Press Conference today and making his own MVP Predictions. With the MVP announcement coming AFTER the playoffs some are calling this a bone-headed move on his part since not one single Playoff game has been played. Some fans are questioning his priorities. But since the newspaper business is circling the drain we report this to keep our head above water so without further ado here they are.

1.Filip Kielczykowski Red Flags PF(perhaps a bit bias dont you think) 14.9pts/13.8reb
2.Giorgio Fustini Skunder Thunder PF 15.3pts/11.5reb
3.Pancho dela Torre PG-SG BYU Cougars 17.7pts/5.1ast
4.Clifton Tinsley SF-PF Cyborgs 16.3pts/7.3reb
5Nedas Gaidulevicius Super Sonics PF 14pts/12.4reb
6.Frank Arthur Super Sonics PG-SG 16.8pts/6.1ast(wild card)

I also have to mention that Gigszoo encouraged other GMs to do the same, but truthfully i think Gigszoo is trying to share the humiliation.

that a pretty solid list I must say Super Sonics G Daniel Noel needs to up on that list. 20.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists in just 31 minutes per game. He also is shooting 37.7% from distance.

In other news....

TX Falcons Cliquet sets league record rebounding record

19 yr old center Rodrigue Cliquet was a beast on the boards yesterday pulling down a league record 35 rebounds! He obliterated his previous career high of 26 boards. Besides controlling the glass, he added 20 points and 7 assists in his most dominating performance of his young career.

Home teams hold serve in first round of playoffs

All four home teams defeated their opponents yesterday bringing the 8 team playoff field down to the final 4. three games where blowouts while the Thunder Skunder squeaked out a victory against BYU Cougars in a triller. The Red Flags, Cyborgs, and Falcons also advance.

Round two features bitter rivals TX and Steel City who split their season series. The two teams are not fond of each other, expect a physcial game, some technicals, and a few purposeful elbows!

In the Red Conference, league leading Red Flags will face the only team that beat them during the regular season in the Skunder Thunder. The Thunder are known for unpredictable tactics out on the floor, so you never know just quite how they will attack you.

Honestly leage V.49 could not have asked for better matchups. They feature 4 teams worthy of promotion, but only one will be guaranteed that move!

CYBORGS AND RED FLAGS PROMOTE

The season 13 champion Cyborgs have officially promoted to DIV IV as they have been assigned to IV.63. The Red Flags also received the good news that their 21-1 regular season record was good enough to earn a DIV IV promotion as well. They have been assigned to IV.34 Congrats and good luck to both teams in division IV, they will represent V.49 well.

Season 14 is about to begin and it looks like there could be two more teams moving to division IV as three very strong teams remain in the Skunder Thunder, TX Falcons, and BYU Cougars. The Super Sonics are the true wild card and could surpirse as well. Division IV demoted team St. Louis Nightmare will also be in the thick of things, but has the bad luck of falling into a very strong Division V League.

Vegas odds have the Falcons and Thunder as the early favorites, here are the odds:
Falcons 2:1
Thunder 5:2
Cougars 3:1
Nightmares 6:1
Super Sonics 7:1

Good luck to all the teams in season 14!
