Am planning on rebuilding my team over the next few seasons, so I was wondering what strategy the people think I should try to build it towards. I currently have two taller forwards I'm working on, and am willing to take several seasons more training on them and then on trainees after them.

So what do you think I should I aim for?

mind you I have hardly any experience but It sounds as though finding a couple tactics that work well with your team or the team you'd like to be and then building in that direction sounds like a good place to start. You may also want to just jot down a couple things that you want in your team specifically like well rounded bigs or all players being solid inside and outside defenders. Then work to make that happen cause that tends to be what makes managers the most happy/satisfied (seeing theirs ideas and dreams create success and a winning formula). Also, I've learned that there are a million ways to be successful in this game, all it takes is the drive and passion to make your requisites into strengths.

We have a lot of great outside shooters. Unfortunately, we play all our games indoors.

Go American or go home. Gunn's a good start, but your only other local guy will turn 35 in a few weeks.

That was actually kind of what I was planning down the road... Replacing most of my current players with American versions that fit my new vision. Only non American staying around was George's training buddy:)

I was leaning towards some sort of outside oriented team... Balance defenders at all positions with outside oriented scoring.

The German, I'm guessing?

I hope I'm not taking you the wrong way here, but I hate it when people say that they're trying to build an outside-oriented team, or a LI team, or whatever. What you should be focused on over the long haul is building a team of guys who can all score from pretty much anywhere, and can defend pretty much anyone. If your opponents know what's coming, they can and will beat you.

I agree with you....If you are 1 sided it is very easy to get beat. You have to be able to have a team that can play multiple tactics that way you are unpredictable. Being predicatble is the worst thing a team can become.

A really good example of this is USA Elite (23172). He has an utterly phenomenal team for the salary, but everyone and their mother knows what type of offense he's running, and most have been successful at stopping it. The fact that the whole league never has to guess if he'll whip out a R&G or something makes his club much easier to plan for.

I've had a fair amount of success with a 1 dimensional offense ...

You've also occasionally whipped out PTB and LI to some success, including the latter in your last B3 game (though unsuccessfully).

That's a good point, but I do think there's good reason to design a team with a particular tactic in mind. Imagine how USA Elite would fare with the same model but an extra 200k in salary upgrades.
