Welcome everyone to Naismith season 24.

Welcome to the 4 new teams, Pszczyna Team, Quebec Pugs, Luxury Tax and the Saskatoon Storm. I'll try and bring back an old tradition and do a little write up on each new team below.

Good luck to everyone this season!

From II.1

Pszczyna Team returns to Naismith after a one season hiatus. They're back in the Great 8 where they previously spent seasons 20-22 and also finished with league best 18-4 record back in season 21 before falling in the league semi's. They first joined BB back in season 11 and return this year with a very Canadian looking lineup having recently purchased 2 high priced players off Beanz Odyssey in Placido Barbiroli and NT big man Duncan Arsenault to go with NT guard Dwain Hadley. They return having defeated another Naismith alumni, the undefeated 22-0 St Louis Beasts in the league finals. They finished season 23 with an $853K payroll and should be an immediate threat to win the Great 8 and challenge of the league title if they keep most of their roster intact.

The Quebec Pugs. It's probably safe to say that this is the youngest D1 manager in Naismith history. I won't reveal his age but for those that are unaware, sparky44 is the son of Headless T Gunner of the Great 8. The Pugs started in season 14 playing in the very difficult III.7 division. Once they won that in their 8ths season they only took 2 seasons to graduate to Naismith beating a 14 year veteran of II.2, the Big Ballerz in the final.

From II.3

Luxury Tax, a season 9 starter, finally broke through in II.3 during their 10th season in the division beating the Moth Balls in the final. They have a older, veteran looking roster so they seem like a team that I can relate too. At the same time, it will be interesting to see if they continue with this roster intact as it will have to be turned over at some point.

From II.4

The Saskatoon Storm, formally the Saskatoon Slam, are the quick riser of the group. They've been playing BB for only 4 full seasons having started part way through season 19 and have already won 3 championships, one in each division. They also won their D2 crown with the smallest payroll of the 4 new teams at a paltry $471K with a relatively young squad. I would expect more Canucks to be added to the roster and they look like a immediate threat to make the playoffs in the Big 8.

To be honest, I feel sorry for St.Louis Beasts. They had a great roster, went 22-0 in regular season and lost in final game. And if I am aware, thats second time in a row.

By the way, my payroll was below 800k. It was salary update that hit me :/

I am not going to lie to you. I want to achieve the most I can this season and hoping for no injuries. Would be great to replace Chiappori with some Canadian big, but That would probably make me buy 120k salary big, so another 30k in salary. Merchandise most liekly wouldnt cover that.

Bradshaw and Diffley will still receive full training, just mostly 2 position (RB, 1 on 1, will try to squeeze in PA, OD, ID at some point in easier weeks)

also, it would be awesome to have some kind of review/preview thread for each league game. It wouldnt take much. with 16 managers, each one would just have to take 1 week in a season. I am extremely busy until June 27th, but after that I can take my turn. Any volunteers for first 2-3 weeks?

If Genso takes a break/quits this season, Beasts just has to go 22-0 and lose in the finals again and he would bot promote.

But agreed with you there, he is #5 in Canada and stuck in II.1 for another season. I'd be more frustrated than ever. Quite dedicated to keep going and winning and I think it's great.

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

Genso most likely will just relegate if he quits, not giving additional spot

I think Genso will have a difficult time finishing higher than 8th, there's no bot cleanup for that. ;)

The ironic part is St Louis first made Naismith due to Bot cleanup (there was an extra spot in season 20) but they clearly weren't ready to promote back then. Now he's got a significantly better team and he can't get out of D2. Cruel game sometimes.

It's very unlikely Genso would avoid relegation with his current plan, so they'll have to win that last game.
I think many of us have been stuck in a really stacked league, II.3 used to ridiculous. That said, Pszczyna's team was better than I've ever seen in div2. If he gets another big, I think he could easily have the best record in the Great 8 by the end of the season.
