It's no secret the NBBA has been in decline in recent seasons, and this season has been the worst yet. Just like in real life, there seems to be no real middle class.....We have a few teams at the top, with everyone else below scrambling to make money with inferior rosters which might even include intentionally demoting. And then, just when things seem boring enough, one of those most vocal (Especially with the NT programs) and liked BB personalities in the game, Jfarb left the game and took his friend wit him, leaving us with two under performing teams for half the season, which became bot teams for the other half of the season.

And now, one of the best and most exciting playoff games/series in Season 25 NBBA action is a relegation series between Silverbacks will be hosting the Burlington Mountain Goats, in which the loser of the series will depart from the NBBA. Some like the turnover with the NBBA being recycled, and some are already missing the great history and tradition this league has represented for so long.

All of that said, it's quite possible that there may be some stability, parity, and a return to healthy competition again with some of the stability that up and coming teams are bringing to the NBBA. All 4 of last seasons D2 promotees never even flirted with Relegation this season, and looked primed to make their stay long term.

In II.1 The Cross Chargers who went 22-0 are looking primed to join the NBBA for the first time. This long time team in their 15th season has always been competitive and will have the benefit of HCA throughout the playoffs. Unfortunately, their small arena may impede their ability to capitalize on their promotion should they make it, but overall they have always been a well run team. Their primary challenge looks to come in the Championship series as they are likely to face the Big 8 #1 team, the Njords Hakarl. They made a late season acquisition to solidify their spot at the top of their conference and give them a chance to upset the undefeated Cross Chargers.

In II.2 Beware of Dogs of the Big 8 took over 1st place early in the season, and never let it go cruising to a 19-3 record and HCA throughout the playoffs and finals. The Big 8 is loaded with quality teams though, with all 4 teams fielding competitive rosters. Although Beware of Dogs should have no trouble getting by their first round opponent, #2 Demon Hoosiers and #3 Midway Mules are very strong teams and are capable of winning on the road. The Great 8 leader Kurgans have not hid their NBBA aspirations and should cruise through their conference en route to the Finals Series.

In II.3 The Big 8 boasts 2 great teams in the Kentucky Wildcats and the ATL Hawks. Both are well run long time BB teams. They are clear favorites to face each other in the Conference championship after they get past the first round. That should be a great game! In the Great 8 we have two former long time NBBA greats in the Lake Merritt Arrows and the Bruins. Bruins looks poised to make a quick bonce back to the NBBA. However, if Kentucky holds off the ATL Hawks, it's going to take a road win for them. You can never discount a D2 teams whose top 3 players total $540K in payroll, however Game Shape will likely prevent the Arrows from a one season return to the NBBA. #2 Eugene Register-Guard is a very solid well run team, and they play much better than their ratings indicate, but a road win against the Bruins will be a tall challenge.

In II.4 the Big 8 has 4 legit teams vying to make it to the NBBA. Delta 9 has been the leagues most consistent team over the last few seasons, and seems to have gotten better each and every season, and especially having HCA in their pocket, look very poised to finally make that jump. However, the teams in the Big 8 that are nipping at their heals are not going down without a fight! Some late season additions and 2 former NBBA teams in the Great 8 will try to stop them!

Yeah, about that 4 teams vying for the NBBA - TTS is extremely well run but he's sold off all but his extremely nice PF and is no threat whatsoever to promote. My team can usually give a good challenge to II level teams but I've got nothing at all to counteract Delta, as the season finale demonstrated. I think smallfries has an outside shot and Pappy's Dog River team is always capable, but I think the pretty heavy favorite is a Delta-Kelts finale that'll be great theatre.
