Hey guys. Just wondering, what are your thoughts on a starting 5?

There's the conventional starting 5 of 2 outside guards, 1 do it all wing and 2 inside bigs. However, in my time in BB, I have seen different variations against these lineups and trying them myself.

For one, there's small ball, where almost every player can hit outside shots, defend the perimeter and handle the ball. In these cases, there seems to be 3 guards with one guard at SF, an all around post player at PF and perhaps a dominant inside C.

Personally, I feel like the small-ball starting 5 is the most popular in BB. Gone are the days where PF-C don't have to be good at OD and JS. I think almost every elite team in the top leagues has a starting big that can defend and shoot jumpers well in this day...In a way, similar to how the NBA has gotten smaller and outside skills are in higher need.

In a way, I haven't seen many opposites of small ball teams, where there are 3 posts with one post at SF, an inside-orientated or slashing guard and a playmaking PG. The closest variation I have seen to these lineups are an inside-orientated SF that can still play outside.

So, just wondering, is big ball really not that good? If you could have 1 dominant post with decent defense outside at SF with 2 other dominant posts, wouldn't that cause problems? For instance, say the two guards have 9 REB and the 3 post (One at SF) have 18+ REB, wouldn't that cause a lot of second chance points and perhaps fouls VS the other team? That's why I'm a bit curious why post players are undervalued (In the transfer market, guards and wings are wayyyy more expensive than post players)

So, if you guys have any stories to tell about small-ball, big-ball or conventional lineups, feel free to post below. Also, comment which is your favorite type of lineup to use.
