I put some players on the transfer list because I'm rebuilding the team before a match. Then I realized that it would be quicker to sell them so I can open up some "cap room", but the fire button was gone. I'm assuming this is because he's on the transfer list, so my question is, how do I take a player out of the transfer portal?

You cannot . You must waiting the end of transfer to fire him.
