It's certainly possible. From what i've been able to tell it's not really a factor though (in offensive rebounding anyway)

Don't forget, rebounding isn't just getting the ball yourself, it's also boxing out your man too.

Yes, doesn't boxing out your man require defense? Since in that position you're not getting the rebound, you're guarding your man and pushing him away from the basket so you can rebound the ball. Maybe the game engine works different though.

i also doubt it that it plays a role, and for me boxing out for a rebound is very different in playing defence because you take your matchup on the back.

Are you referring to this game or basketball in real life?

I could be wrong, it's been a while since i've checked but last i heard (and as far as i know it's still this way) boxing out for a rebound is definitely a factor in the game mechanics.

Okay...really? So then inside defence would play a role in boxing out on defensive rebounds, but what about offensive rebounds...can you please clarify/confirm exactly whats going on once a shot is missed on either end of the floor? This is all getting a little confusing.

Shaq - i think a lot of it is just the wording you use. I've noticed a lot of the time when you post you seem to speak from opinion or the way you think things work (or should work) but you write as if it's 100% fact that this is the way the game works. That can be a dangerous way to talk in the Help forums if you're not giving out 100% facts and may be why some people are 1 balling your posts so you might just need to watch out for that is all (this doesn't include me, i rarely rate posts at all)

Hadron - again i'm not 100% sure and i've never been very good on breaking mechanics down piece by piece so i might not be able to give you all the information you're after. I mainly work from information i get and then go by "feel" and experimentation with my players from there.
Defensively, i'm not even sure that ID does play a part. Getting a defensive rebound could just be a by-product of playing good defense and being near the ball but not actually factored into the rebound part of it itself. I do believe that rebounding (and the rebounding of the rest of your team) is what determines how many rebounds you get (and later in the game stamina probably starts to take effect also) and the position you play is a factor as well.

Offense rebounds in particular would just be rebounding matchups i'd think but like i said before as well, defensive zones obviously play a part here too.
