How about having to play big men with "average" in one of their three primaries, guards with respectable OD or guys that have no stats in double figures at all.

well i guess thats what i was eluding to.

Does Australia have enough 'good' users, who know how to manage game shape AND enough awesome players going around such that if a player on the NT is not being managed correctly due to the manager, then we have suitable backups?

And is it a risk picking guys who are massive salary players, who are more likely to be shopped around the transfer market every 3rd or 4th week? Is it better off picking and playing statistically poorer players, but who are consistently on one team, being GS managed?

eg: Michael Jordan for 75% of the year, at 75%, or Scottie Pippen, all year, at 100%?

Well firstly, so far there has only been one Australian with a massive salary (250K+) in all of Buzzerbeater history and that is Radford. We got plenty of players just as good as Radford, not as high in salary but they have superior secondary skills. So don't be fooled by salary in judging players. It's heavily influenced by the player's primary skills. You need to look at player skills collectively. That means primary skills, secondary skills, stamina, free throws and experience. I haven't even mention gameshape management yet. ;)

Sure Australia have plenty of good managers who know how to train and manage gameshape. However not all Australian managers train Australian players. About half the players on the national team are managed by non-Australian teams. Yes, we got backups but the main squad is fine. Quite frequently the main squad have at least 12 guys with strong/proficient gameshape in any given week and that's enough to set up a game. If we are struggling for gameshape or injuries, then that's when we look at backups. But that doesn't happen often.

Yes it's risky to carry players who are being shopped around every week because you don't know who's managing the players and the squad is restricted to a maximum of 18 players and you want to field 12 players in any given game. So you can't have players who could possibly run the risk of getting 120+ minutes a week. Also kicking players off the national team mean a decrease in enthusiasm and we know how important enthusiasm can be. So the risk is not worth it. Players who play national games give their team a merchandise boost. So I would rather reward managers doing a good job than reward managers who do a bad job managing their players.

In this game, Pippen at 100% all season is superior to Jordan at 75% because at the national level everyone is a superstar. You need at least 10 (5 starters and 5 bench) superstars and not 1. Also Buzzerbeater is different to real life, so it's not the best comparison to use. :p

So essentially its not a problem that Australian is having, and sounds like this scottish team 'sabotage' is only a minor blip on the horizon.
I think its also ironic that, due to the number of upper level managers not training Aussie players, has made it a viable option for us lower plebs to try and train aussie players, due to greater chance of NT selection, transfer market benefits, etc.

Also Buzzerbeater is different to real life

I don't know if there are more but I know Whitebeard, Direwolf, mllama, Coachnoodles, Trikster, Sid Vicious, abigfishy and I all have/are training Aussie players with fairly high potential. That is at least half of the ABBL and there are probably more.

yes true, but there are plenty of ex-abbl-er managers who are floating around in lower divisions, and i know some in my league who are definately not training aussie players.

i should correct myself when i say upper-level manager ... i meant upper level in their ability to do good training and player management. not neccassarily upper level in league.
