Yes with the weakness of our big men I fear we will be forced to use man to man and the much loathed 2/3 zone and little else. Maybe a 3-2 if we come up against a team with similar issues to us.

Ghosh vs Kumar.
Kumar is an excellent player and in a fair appraisal is one of our top 6-8 players. But Ghosh is a much better scorer and beats him in JS, JR and IS so it really isn't close.

Gnanam is our best player by far and is best suited to PG so that one is clear.
Firosh is our best defender by far and a solid SF although in man to man sometimes we may play him at SG in defence to take the opponents best scorer.
At SG you really want the best scorer possible and Ghosh just is much better at that than Kumar.

Where Kumar could come in would be off the bench ahead of Peppin but once again that may depend on what we need for the specific game.

These debates are excellent. I have asked Niko about the private offsite forums so I can just display the players skills so we can debate them easily and freely.

All clearly understood sir :) I think our guards are one of the best ones we've ever had...if we had our big-men who are now 23/24, our team will be really good...but life isn't that easy.

The private offsite forums would be a great idea. We can understand the team much better that way. Hope that'll come soon :)

Me too! It would be great if it was before the enthusiasm reset so I could just cut and paste everyone's details.

I'd think that using 1-3-1 zone is suicidal, especially for our team. 1-3-1 zone is a super perimeter defense and unless you have a super monster big-man, the opponents will just get too many offensive rebounds and go for easy lay-ups. Since we don't have strong big-men, I don't think there'll be a case where we'll use 1-3-1 zone.
Even with man to man, out perimeter defense is likely to be far better than our inside, and I guess the only case where we might use 3-2 zone is if the opponents had a very strong outside shooting and very low rebounding.

If you miss something in ID and have strong OD, I agree that best defense is man, to put pressure at perimeter and limits damages (I did it for so long time with my team...).

1-3-1 is a desperate defense, to be used where there is no option and with what you called "super monster big man" (Shaq 15 years ago). 3-2 without two good internal defenders can be critical, although can be used under certain circumstances: for instance, if the two tall men have very high RB, they are statistically closer to the board and will catch more RB's even with a worse team bonus. However, your opponent should play outside offense (or you would be fouled out), and have no such a good circulation (or ball will come inside as knife into butter).

Thanks, I did miss him but someone already did tip me off on him. He is ok but he is already 21 and we have several better big men. I think he is a very long shot to make the team unless our current big men have an injury or horrible GS.

This is our top 8 big men.

Sarfaraz Ishtaq 12878 21 8 198 pf
Velmurugan Dey  14597 21 7 201 c
Farooq Ishtaq 8282 20 7 218 c
Vidvan Balu 11536 21 9 213 c
Aloki Peppin  22468 21 5 196 sf
Siddiq Haque 10255 21 7 196 pf
Dhritiman Vikesh 6414 19 6 198 pf
Ishayu Sinclair  7191 21 8 203 pf

Peppin will play mostly SF but can fill in at PF. Vikesh is much more well rounded and flexible as well and is young! Haque is very close to Balu but Balu is a better defender. I think both will probably miss out.

Well u r the boss here so i cant really ask u to play him in the squad.
well peppin is a really good player..i trained him for 1 season and his skills were really good for a starter..he had a whooping 6500 sallary and all his skills were well balanced except passing which as far as i remember was atrocious.his IS was also weak but am not sure what is the condition now...
but i still think he can be a starter SF if he is trained well.....

Haque is a good player and may get called up if things go wrong for some of our other guys but I think it is unlikely. He has already had some glory. Time for someone else (who is actually better) to get a turn.

NT Appearance 1/24/2011 15 First appearance with the India U21 National Team
Siddiq Haque has played in 7 competitive National Team games.

You trained Peppin? Well done, he will be one of the key players on our team I think. It also looks like you have two other excellent young trainees:

Gurugovind Dubey (19778518) Small Forward
Weekly salary: $ 4 023
Age: 18
Height: 6'2" / 188 cm
Potential: allstar

Amurti Choubey (19778549) Point Guard
Weekly salary: $ 3 745
Age: 18
Height: 6'0" / 183 cm
Potential: allstar

I hope both of these great young players are getting lots of single position training. They could be stars on our team in a few seasons. Keep up the great work. Once I have finished organising the team and scouting a million players I will start to concentrate on our "squad" including the young guys.

We have our first big game against Saudi Arabia on monday and it is a VERY important game for us.

But there is bad news. Our best player Hashmat Gnanam has been whipped into mediocre GS by his inactive manager and is close to unplayable now. He is by far our best passer! This will really hurt us and now I think we could be the underdogs. Kumar is in strong GS so I think I will promote him to the starting PG spot.

This would make our team look like this:

PG Kumar S/Gnanam M
SG Ghosh R/Singh R
SF Firosh S/Peppin S
PF S.Ishtaq S/F.Ishtaq S
C Dey R/Vikesh S

The Mumbai Lakers were last seen on the 27/3 so will go bot monday week. By then he will have been flogged in 3 games again and will have worse GS. Then he will be sold so it could be 4 weeks until he is in good GS. A bit of a disaster for us as we have all our important games early.

The Saudis do also have some GS issues with three of their backups in bad game shape, but it doesn't compare to losing your best player on a thin, thin squad. Wish us luck India, it is a big game and we will need a lot of luck to win it now.

Our best player having a mediocre GS...this is too sad :S It couldn't be any worse.

I think king of bb, Mumbai Lakers and hellkiller s 5 will go bot on the 9th of May, not the coming 2nd of May.
