Congratz!! let go! after eat kimchi, time to eat dim sum!

We almost had dimsum today, until the game engine decided to award them the blowout win.

After learning from their close game against Malaysia U21, I opted for an outside offense. In fact I specifically choose RNG for the increased volume of outside shots, anticipating Hong Kong U21 to play Cheng Lin Fat at SF so I could exploit the OD mismatch at SF. It did work, until the GE felt that the poor SF was getting torched too badly and had Wu Seng Min knock him out so a better outside defender could take his place (for the record, Fong Li Kum was 10/18 from the field and 3/3 from the arc against Cheng Li Fat but 1/4 for the rest of the game). Ironically, despite having the offense successfully run through Fong throughout the game, the GE decides not to let him touch the ball much in the final quarter until our opponents had a 12-0 run, then make him miss a dunk, as if it wasn't obvious enough.

In overall, anything past the 36th minute was a joke. Alright. Rant over. Frankly speaking it was a tough shot for us to win, but then the 30 point loss was ridiculous.

Anyway, for some brighter news, Fong Li Kum's 30 points today put him at 3rd in the most points scored per season list, overtaking Nathaniel Jidang (250) by 2 points. He also has 397 career U21 points, overtaking Seet De Han for 8th place in the all-time list. With 3 more games to go and 124 more points behind Ong Wan, it's unlikely that he breaks the record. However 2nd place is still very much in his reach.

Our boys bounced back tonight with a slim 113-103 victory over Iran U21 in a game which was so one sided until the final quarter. We were up by 28 after 3 quarters before garbage time set in and we emptied our bench, which allowed their starters to chip away the lead. Thankfully we managed to hold on and still win by double digits.

Fong Li Kum was once again the leading scorer, hitting 29 points in 28 minutes on 63% shooting accuracy. This put him at 281 points this season, just 10 behind Kok De Seng, who holds the record at 291. It's very likely that the record will be broken in the next game. This also gave him 426 career U21 points, overtaking Amar Sarkar by 1 point to take 6th place in the all time standings. That said, despite his heroics, he failed to hit both his attempts from 3, while he got torched by Tahmasb Homayoun a few times. Nevertheless, he still managed to bully opposite number Izad Mortazavi, as the makeshift forward picked up his 5th foul early in the third. However he somehow managed to stay safe for the rest of the game.

Wu Seng Min also had an influencial game. Despite having a not very efficient night (42.8% from the field), he picked up a double-double with 14 points and 19 rebounds and had the highest +/- of the game with +31. He also swatted away 2 shots while dished out the second highest number of dimes in the team with 4 assists. Another standout performer is Ho Yun Leng. On the night where his club-mate Tahmasb Homayoun hit 37 points, he ensured that he still had some bragging rights when he returned to his club as he managed 27 points and 5 assists. He also hit the only 3 pointer of the team.

After a morale boosting win today, we will be facing Philippines U21 next week. It's highly impossible for us to win, but let's hope our boys put on a good show.

Wish we could have had Jollibee but we never even came close. Philippines U21 stepped on the accelerator from the start, and never let off until garbage time. We were literally down by more than 30 by half time, and we only managed to chip away the lead when they started to relax off their game in the 4th.

Once again, Foong Li Kum leads our front line with a 34 point 7 rebound effort off 41% shooting. His 3 point numbers were fairly bad as he only hit 1 out of his 5 shots from the arc, and even then it was near the end of the game. However these 34 points ensured that he overtook Kok De Seng with the most points scored in a season with 315, becoming the first ever Singaporean player to score more than 300 points for the NT/U21 in a season. He's also at 460 career U21 points, sitting firmly at 4th place. Meanwhile a 11 point effort from Ho Yun Leng also meant the climbed up to 9th place in the all-time U21 scoring charts with 401, finally breaking the 400 point mark. He also dished out 3 assists, putting him just 1 assist behind 10th placed Ossamah Bin-Alam on the all time assist list. Another standout performer tonight was Isaiah Sin, who hit 13 points in 10 minutes despite having to play second fiddle to Foong Li Kum. The 6'8" wingman was amazing from the arc, hitting 3 of his 5 attempts. He was equally amazing on the other end of the court, rejecting two shots.

Meanwhile, Wu Kung Yu and Choong Chuan Choon had less stellar performances as they were both fouled out. The latter had the worst night as he missed all his shots. However both of them still played a crucial part in helping us keep possession as they grabbed 8 and 9 rebounds respectively.

Our final game will be against our neighbours Malaysia U21. Since the borders are open, who wants to go to spy on them for me? Tho sadly I don't think they keep their secrets in JB. Either way, happy shopping guys (and refilling petrol as well).

Our boys ended the season with a severely unlucky 69-86 loss to neighbours Malaysia U21. What can I say, the game engine just favoured them more, from the ridiculous amount of turnovers from our side, to the ridiculous free throw accuracy (they usually hit 60-70% but hit 90% on 21 attempts tonight), it was a game we could never win (although I must admit, I was stubborn all the way til the 4th despite all the signs). Of course, their defense in the post was better than our inside offense, and we hit them inside as well. But we were superior in every other part of the game, but it was just not meant to be.

Fong Li Kum hit 21 points on 50% shooting tonight to move into 2nd in the all time scoring charts with 481, 40 points behind Ong Wan. He will be retained for the remaining scrimmages of this season to see if he can become the all time leading scorer of our U21.

Meanwhile, despite having a pretty bad game, Ho Yun Leng moved into top 10 of the all-time assist charts as he dished out 4 assists to overtake Ossamah Bin-Alam with 127 assists.

Now that the season has ended, we will be bidding goodbye to most of our players. It has been a great ride, and although there were some problems with some players, however most of them managed to keep their game shape up, which ultimately helped us put in a decent run. Stay tuned to see who joins Wan Tong Lai, Tan Xin Li and Yang Keng Tse in the U21 next season!

We ran our offense through him, and he had a pretty good day, hitting 48% from the field and 50% from 3. But in the end, Ong Wan maintained his place as the all time U21 top scorer, as Fong Li Kum only managed to rack up 31 points in his 42 minutes of play, leaving him 9 points behind. Regardless, the wingman had a great offensive season as he became the only player in our U21 to break 300 points in a season.

A sneak peek of what's to come:
Wan Tong Lai had a breakout game last night. After shooting 34% from field at this level throughout the whole of last season, the playmaker went 12 of 19 from field and hit his only attempt from the arc to finish the game with 25 points. It's his highest scoring and most efficient game so far, so let's hope he carries it into the new season, especially after Ho Yun Leng passed him the torch.

Tan Xin Li also impressed with his playmaking skills, dishing out 3 assists to lead the starters in assists as he took to the court as a U21 starter for the second time in his career. The only other start he had last season was against Brazil, where he dished out 4 assists. I guess we can expect our dynamic backcourt duo to get the offense running.

Meanwhile Zhao Hongli showed a glimpse of promise with his 3 assists in 7 minutes. At just 20 years old, he looks set to be Wan Tong Lai's successor next season.

Lastly, Yang Keng Tze dazzled us at the boards with 16 rebounds. He might have had an inefficient shooting night, however he was still a solid contributor in gaining possessions for us. He is also only 20 years old, meaning he will very likely play for us for 3 seasons. With him sneaking into the starting lineup occasionally last season, it won't be surprising if he ends up as our best player next season.
