well, the intensity is certainly turned up for the majority of the remaining cup teams, with most of them having very, VERY difficult draws. might be a tough week for III.7. here are the matchups:

BucsBlue Lob City (d3. 116) vs The Closer (d3. 137)

Warhawks (d3. 209) vs The Goon Squad (d4. 743)

Snake River Panthers (d3. 143) vs DDJJK (d5. cpu)

North Carolina Tar Heels (d3. 331) vs Houston Hamburgers (d4. 726)

Grand Ma Mas (d3. 382) vs The Coolness Factor (d4. 563)

CRF Flamengo (d3. 124) vs Olympic 84 (d5. cpu)

LambdaLambdaLambda (d3. 96) vs Neo Angeles Lightning (d5. 1078)

Frosty BC (d3. 268) vs Robins Nest Slayers (d6. cpu)

nyc warhawks (d3. 343) vs Locomotive DieselDogs (d2. 39)

West Side Tigers (d3. 176) vs GR Venom (d4. 300)

Strong arm of the law (d3. 280) vs Noreasterners (d3. 94)

Glugly (d3. 220) vs Corn Growers (d2. 74)

teams got a cake walk: snake river, flamengo, lambda, frosty. everyone else got a pretty tough draw. let's start with the easiest draw and work our way up.

warhawks drew the goon squad. warhawks are a very, very good team, and they should be able to slice through any d4 team without a ton of effort. i fully expect this to be a blowout, barring warhawks taking it easy and playing all backups.

tarheels got an equally manageable game against (i would argue) an even less competitive d4 team. the hamburgers basically rely on 1 player, and their team is ancient. should be a breeze unless, again, they take it easy and play all backups.

grand ma mas drew a pretty good d4 team, whose team is in excellent game shape. this will be a real test for grand ma mas, who rely primarily on the strength of their big trio of duk, adli and cisis. they're playing a more well rounded team with better game shape. it's honestly a little tough to see them pulling off a road win here.

west side drew gr venom, who is an outstanding d4 team. their star players aren't in great game shape, but everyone else on the team is. on the other hand, it's very difficult to see how bois and gybels don't overwhelm venom. west side can probably beat venom, but it won't be easy on the road. venom's manager seems to know what he's doing, he'll be prepared.

bucsblue drew the closer, who is a very competitive d3 team, akin to themselves. the closer boasts a 7 deep lineup, who are all in good game shape. they also have 2 (yep, 2) u21 national team players. and. they. are. both. awesome. very difficult game for lob city, but also winnable, because belbucs is an excellent coach and gm, who has very good players in good game shape as well, and he will have that team scouted and game-planned. we'll see if bucs can overcome the depth disadvantage, i suspect he will.

and then comes the really tough games. first, strong arm drew noreasterners. that's one of the better d3 teams i've seen. they have 9 guys that can put up double digit ratings, as well as a starting 5 that's on par with any starting 5 in our league. and they're all in great game shape. tough to see strong arm pull this one out, but it's not impossible. play all 5 starters, crunch time... they also have home court. very very difficult, but not impossible.

glugly is toast. it seems the manager has gone mia, and they're playing a d2 team. they lost.

nyc warhawks, again, got an incredibly difficult draw. i would say the draw is impossible, but dieseldogs are selling 2 starters. if they sell before the game, this game has a slight chance for it to go the way of the warhawks, whom also have home court advantage. ct'ing the team... ya never know. warhawks are a very good team themselves, and imo can compete with that team anyway.

Yea I'm gonna lay this one off this time around. And I really think I could beat this team on CT. As of right now I'm gonna save Enth. *sigh* maybe next season.

BucsBlue takes the loss!!!! To sum this game up and give the League a great look at what we here within management and coaching are afraid of is LACK OF DEPTH!!!!! Tommy Lee gets hurt 5 mins into the game (he had 4 points in 5 mins) against a PG he would have killed... Also our Starting PF fouled out (only 27 mins played) and we didn't have enough depth to with stand those losses. Back up PF played almost 40 mins (PF/C) and posted an amazing 6 rating! Wilburn, Paulo did their best to try to steady the ship but just weren't enough to overcome the loss of a 2 time top 3 MVP vote getter in Tommy Lee, and a very servicable PF in Sergio. BucsBlue's cup game is a PRIME indicator of why management & Coaching are trying to figure out how to get depth considering the teams limited financial resources! If BucsBlue can't add depth they will be looking at another playoff exit and NO PROMOTION! here's statement from the head coach

"Yes we played another quality D3 team, and take nothing away from The Closer, but we are extremely confident our starting 5 can play and beat any team in any D3. its this damn bench i'm worried about. I mean if you can get us in foul trouble, or if we have an injury we may as well give jersey's to the fans!!! If management wants to win a title they need to get me D3 quality players on my bench. This league is toooooo good to have only 5-6 quality players."

Damn. BelBucs, Warhawks and Snake River in three of my next four games. I'll be happy if I win 1 out of the 3.

Besides CRF Flamego who drew a D.2 team, everyone else should win there cup games. I was so unfortunate this season in the cup. I hope for the best to all.

I dunno, glugly is inactive and play a tough team, west side plays the top team in the country, flamengo plays a d2 team, and my opponent could surprise me, Ya never know. I'd say the surest bet to advance is lambda. And even though they play a d4 team, it's a very good d4 team who is a lively underdog. It's entirely possible nobody advanced. If I had to guess though, me and lambda will, and that's it.

looks like lambda and i are the last 2 remaining teams in the cup, and to the surprise of no one, we both drew very good teams.

frosty bc is playing an excellent d3 team. i don't want to divulge too much yet, so i won't say too much about it, but this game is winnable. i can, and almost should. i really do have a ton of confidence in my team right now, i have a cakewalk for a league opponent, and i have home court.

lambda, on the other hand, drew a tough d2 team that takes the cup very seriously. let me just start by saying that, i think lambda is an exceptionally good squad, and i have the utmost respect for longduck as a manager, and i do not think this is an impossible game. it is, however, a pretty clear mismatch. in vegas, lambda would be about +20 underdogs. but, stranger things have happened. this game certainly isn't out of reach.

I'm not chasing the game. My run is over. On to seeing if I can get through this challenging league in which I am certainly not a favorite.
