I feel like I can see Resmi's skills right now and he is complete ass that should not be leading a less effort road win against my club

Full disclosure, not for sympathy, just for context: One of us may have spent Memorial Day weekend in the hospital and is no longer in possession of his gallbladder. I do apologize if I have said anything particularly galling or besmirching over the weekend, or over the past 10 months in general. I can't really promise that I'll be less erratic or offensive moving forward, but at least I'll feel better while I'm doing it. And pacing back and forth is actually part of the recovery process, no one paces back and forth better than I do, especially when I'm getting my ass kicked at something.

Hope you get to feeling better! Not a great way to spend a long weekend....

My strategy for these BB games nowadays is to just do anything else and just periodically check the score. I can't bring myself to watch the majority of the time anymore

Sorry to hear. Hope you have a quick recovery!

I’m happy to have finally made it to the NBBA so figured I owe it to myself to at least make an intro post. Had a previous team that sniffed D.II once before focusing everything on the national teams before I left the game for a bit (RIP California Knights). Retuned to the game with a plan to get here about 3 years ago now and roughly stuck to it, as one does with any long term BB plan, and it actually paid off! Competition has been tough (no pun intended) so I’m looking forward to seeing how my squad stacks up and doing our best to hang up here. Good luck all!

Well, I'm the converse of Coach Shnuffy, I definitely took a step back this off-season as far as competitiveness is concerned.

I think our game was close enough that if I hadn't cheaped out on my PR guy then I might have scraped by with a 1 or 2 point win. At the last minute I picked up this 33 year old Frederic Owstien, (46977157), to shore up my roster. He was sitting at 110K with a few minutes to go, and a TPE that is still between 300-400k. A couple other bidders showed up but I'm still pleased to have him for the $195,000 I ended up paying. But... if I was going to buy Owstein, and pay him 70k a week, why would I cheap out on that last 5k for a crowd involvement guy? Honestly, because I thought Owstein would be enough. I took it out on Resmi, but I didn't even look at him until after the match, or do much else in the way of scouting or intangibles. I'm just frustrated because if I pick up a win there, then maybe I'm looking to keep Owstein and add a guy when people tend to start loading up, instead of trying to flip him into someone that can get me back to being competitive. It's those little things...

RIP to Harold Miner's gallbladder. Gone, but not forgotten.
Hope you're feeling better my dude!

Regarding A Warrior's post, I really like these buzzerbeater stories!

Mine is similar. I played the game once before (maybe twice?) and I remember having a perennial all-star trainee that came with my team (back when that meant a little more than it does now, even though it was never that great) and he basically led me to DII in a very exciting manner. Of course, he capped out and I didn't plan ahead for what I would do in DII if I did make it (plus, there might not have been promotion money back then, but don't quote me on that). So, realizing I would have to tank, I quit. Now I'm back and I played the long game. Basically, all I want to do is win just one championship and I'm good. Like, I get that it won't make me considered great or anything (and heck, I still don't understand anything about the game engine), but if I could win just one championship, I'd seriously consider either retiring from the game or just training NT players after that.

Unfortunately, it looks like I made some hasty moves and built my team around a concept that I thought MIGHT work, even though it wasn't part of the current meta, but clearly is not working. After seeing how they're struggling this season against teams I would have thought I should beat handily, plus seeing how Mountain Eagles's roster construction basically has me in a box, I'm going to have to figure out a way to retool.

In the word's of Greg Popovich, "it's not supposed to be easy" :)

Reminder to all on the scale these are calculated on:

It is a 1000 point system based on six categories that are weighted as follows:

Team Record: 250 points
Team Salary: 100 points
Cup Success: 150 points
Point Differential: 100 points
Team Composite Rating: 200 points
Top 5 Team Ratings (League, Cup, BBM): 200 points

I got lazy last season with some of the manual upkeep and never kept up with these but hopefully, this season will be different

The up and down arrows are based on the rankings from the previous game/week rankings that I did not post, but you can use that info to see where your team was last week anyway!

Some thoughts on the season so far:

My team is at the top? This is uncharted territory (we will eventually all be crushed when Tough makes his usual late-season move)

This is the most competitive the league has been in many seasons. There is no "lock" for the 8 seed and the same can be said about the playoffs on the Great 8 side.

Based on ratings alone, there seem to be 4 front-runners. Splash Gang, the Eagles, ERG, and 10 Inch Verticals. (iI would swap APG with 10inch).... Nice balance there as each conference has 2 teams each.

ERG is doing more with less. His team ranks 5 spots higher in power rankings than what his team ranks in salary (3rd in rankings, 8th highest salary)

Sofuegg however.... is doing less with more. Their team ranks 12th in the power rankings but they carry the 2nd highest salary in the league.

As always, if you have any questions on more specifics of the model or any suggestions feel free to reach out!
