We hope that this season will definitely be the largest such bot cleanup in buzzerbeater history, and that the top few divisions will soon be filled with loyal long standing teams.
I definitely see your point, but I just don't know how to fix it. I didn't like the bot cleanup idea at first because of this problem...
we aren't going to do any bot cleanups except in the offseason, as moving teams mid season would create ill defined standings etc..
I believe this has been discussed elsewhere, but the HT model seems to work for removing teams when owners quit playing.....
I think now that higher divisions are predominantly or all owned by actual owners, it makes the HT format easier to implement. At a given point in a season, you "reset" the un-owned teams players and set them as a "bot" and then let them start their slow (or speedy) descent to the bottom divisions.......although I know BB has set the computer controlled teams to be "competitive", it shouldn't be possible for "bots" to promote....
the one-time bot replacement was a good thing, but as BB grows, having a logical way of assigning new teams is a necessity as is having un-owned teams reset. Having an annual "bot" clean-up should be unnecessary and ultimately would make the playoffs/promotion less important and almost meaningless....
