Sculpin is indeed excellent, but I expect a decline in quality of their IPA's since they've been bought by a mega-distributor. Other outstanding SoCal IPA's include Fortunate Islands (from Modern Times) and Coronado Brewing's Islander IPA.

Maybe those in the Pacific Northwest haven't noticed it yet, but others have: San Diego is the capital city of craft brewing these days, especially for IPA's!

And don't forget Stone Brewing. Their Delicious IPA is, well, delicious. And their "enjoy by" series has produced some great ones.

Thanks, TarZip!

Before Saturday, I was thinking that the Robots might go 0-22 in the league this season (assuming I don't make any major roster changes). Then we get a W in game 1! Hopes for a 2nd win have diminished greatly since noting that Cal Bulldogs filled some gaps in their lineup over the weekend.

I really enjoyed the Firestone brews north of Los Angeles too.

Paso Robles, CA. I live in in Central California and Firestone Walker is a popular brewery near here. I like their Velvet Merlin (Oatmeal Stout) and Wookey Jack (Black Rye IPA). I guess it obvious now that I like dark beers. Sounds like you are having a good trip!

Way late to responding to you here but I'm in Santa Monica (western part of LA)
shoot me a BB-mail if you're coming through

I went through a brief beer connoisseur phase a couple years ago but in the end I have no taste and don't mind Budweiser at all, haha.

So I'm training players I care about for the first time in 3 seasons

Game One
Trainee 1: injured after 3 minutes
Trainee 2: fouled out in 15 minutes
also, crushing defeat in a winnable game because of random scrubs playing out of position for the unavailable players.

Game Two
Trainee 3: fouled out in 28 minutes
Trainee 4: fouled out in 24 minutes

Let's see if I can keep the streak going in game three versus a cup-bot. Trainee 5 is a fresh draftee who has never played a game, can't wait to see how "aggressive" he is! Trainee 6 is screwed because 3&4 are going to get a second chance in his place.

In Anaheim currently. Went to the Angels Togers game last night. 9 bombs including a grand slam and a walk off. Rented a condo right across the street from the stadium. Today is Disney with the wife and daughters.

Oh that's a nice area! I used to live in the north part of LA right around the corner from the Amtrak line that stops at Angel Stadium, been there a bunch.

Looks like you had a great time in LA, did more in several days than we all do the whole time lol. I live out here too, looks like we got a bunch of ppl who live in CA in this league. Will always have someone to hang out with when you come out this way :)

I live in Alaska but spend a lot of time down there between San Diego and LA (especially from October through March). In fact, my wife and daughter have annual passes to Disneyland and Universal Studios.
